Today I am proud (blatantly a brag!)

I’m always proud of the little munchkin but my god today he surpassed himself

17 weeks old and weighs 14.9kg.

First off....

HE SLEPT TILL 8.30am. I actually feel like I’ve been given the gift of life!

Then we had puppy play this morning at a local field. He was such a superstar - 2 dogs turned up on lead, caught one and got him back and on the lead straight away... no issue... the second one I missed, massive Akita - I admit I absolutely wet myself as he bombed over to it - blew the whistle (which I’ve been practising like mad but not ever actually used for recall as I’m trying to keep it to emergencies) he did a total stop with a skid, span round and came charging back for a perfect sit at my legs. I was so bloody chuffed I could have cried. Huge chunk of liver cake reward.

Then he had an hours nap at home when we went food shopping. No barking, just a sleepy pup when I returned.

Then we went for our socialisation practise at a local food market - it was ridiculously busy. Like having to stop every few seconds to let people past etc. He was AMAZING. He stayed by my side the whole time, no pulling on the lead despite god knows how much food on the floor.

He ignored the dogs on leads, stayed totally focussed.. on one occasion a lady with an obvious learning disability approached and bent down to pet him - he immediately assumed the position that we use at work (straight sit but facing me so the person can pet him) and didn’t deviate once. The lady had a lovely stroke whilst telling me all about the dog she had when she was a little girl. My other half whose never seen Mas ‘work’ got proper emotional at how happy the lady was who was petting him. :giggle:

We then walked to the pet stall where we spent a small fortune on pizzles (1 metre stick for £1.50! - yes please!!) and Achilles heels (weird but he seems a fan) and he had a lovely munch on one whilst I had a debate about how you shouldn’t ever take a treat away from a dog (apparently you should to encourage them to not guard food )

Home now and snoring on the mat.

What a really lovely lovely day. Tomorrow he’s going to be a frigging demon to make up for it but today he is untouchable.
