Toffee's Eyes

Location

I'd say you're definitely doing the right thing @SteffiS. I hope at least Toffee is more comfortable now.
He’s definitely loads better and not in pain. To everyone else I’m sure his behaviour looks normal but I know he’s not right, and his eye is still obviously discoloured.
I’ve had quite a battle with the receptionists at this vets over an appointment Toffee should have had on Wednesday so I was ready for an argument today, but luckily the vet agreed with me.

I’m sorry you’ve had the bad service and such an expensive one at that. That’s why I’d go straight to a specialist vet regarding eyes. In my experience, regular vets aren’t experienced enough to give the right treatment, so they either say wait and see (bad practice with eyes), or they run so many tests cos they haven’t a clue. The specialist’s bill for Snowie was 1/3 of our regular vet’s bill in the end! And he got better because of the specialist’s specific treatment. Best of luck next week.

Saw the eye vet today, it appears Toffee still has limited vision in his right eye ☹ and a large amount of blood still in that eye. She did loads of tests, blood pressure as well as actual tests on the eye in case raised blood pressure has caused the problem. Everything is normal so she says it looks more like a blunt trauma injury, although the fact it appeared overnight makes it unlikely. Everyone is a bit puzzled.

Anyway he has different eye drops which OH will have to do on his own as I am going to stay with my daughter in London for 3 days. Then he needs to go back in 10 days and if he’s not better by then they will admit him for the day for more extensive testing. There’s always the option of the ophthalmology hospital if necessary but hopefully it won’t come to that.
