Travels with my dog.

Today we picked up Millie, Liz's mum's Border Terrier and headed to Southwold. Last time we were there in the Spring was the first time Joy had seen the sea. She was fascinated but rather unsure and a bit frightened when a wave went over her head. A different dog today though! She seemed to learn how to 'work' the sea, letting it bring her Orange Thing part way back to her, then riding the waves back in and clearly loving it! She had a good play with two other black Labs, enjoyed a roll in the sand and sat beautifully while we had lunch and all of a sudden my funny, gangly, skinny little dog, of whom many people have asked 'Is she a full Labrador?' is grown up, beautiful and very much All Labrador Indeed, Fank yoo very much!IMG_20191017_085132.jpgIMG_20191017_112354.jpgIMG_20191017_113243.jpgIMG_20191017_115157.jpgIMG_20191017_115203.jpgIMG_20191017_115216.jpgIMG_20191017_113809.jpgIMG-20191017-WA0001.jpgIMG-20191017-WA0000.jpg

Love all the photos, especially Joy playing on the beach and on the bench looking regal with sandy paws and Millie peaking out from under the table. It looks like a really lovely place PLUS you had sunshine. :happyfeet:

Isn't it funny how people ask if smaller Labs are actually Labs? I don't get it too much in the UK, but in the US I got the question a lot as people are used to Labs looking like big tanks. They really do come in all sizes, including pocket-sized like Joy and Carbon. :giggle:

Here we are back in Hucknall staying with Guy and Jenny for Christmas. GGJ and I had a good walk in the sunshine this morning. She met and played with a Patterdale called Stan and a gorgeous GR called Bond. He was only eight months old and they had a lovely run around together. Back at the bungalow I sent Guy a text to tell him that we'd managed a walk with neither of us getting injured this time and to check on some of the arrangements for Christmas day. He replied and sent me a photo of myself sitting at the table with a cup of coffee, which is exactly what I was doing at that time. Then I remembered that since we last stayed he had put CCTV in so that they can keep an eye on the cats while they're away. Ooh! Spooky! Little Brother is watching you! He's gone a bit gadget mad to be honest, with three Alexas and timers on all the lights including the Christmas ones. Whereas my dad drove my mum mad with notices everywhere reminding us to turn the lights off, ( 'It makes the place look like a boarding house, Michael!') Little Brother has notices everywhere reminding us NOT to turn the lights off as this will mess up the timer! So funny! This is going to have to be a Christmas involving some serious teasing!:cwl::laughdog:

Haven't even got one Alexa, let alone 3, not sure I trust 'her' that much yet.

Which Hucknall is it @Candy? My dad's family originate from Hucknall Huthwaite.
It's just plain Hucknall, in Nottinghamshire. Apparently if I want to listen to the radio I now have to ask Alexa to turn it on. I haven't been able to bring myself to speak to her yet!

My dad does this but he writes in black Sharpie pen ON THE SWITCHPLATE. Which in his case is white plastic.

That dog walking sculpture is amazing, especially looking like it has just popped up in the middle of nowhere.

I love a cuddly dog in front of a cheery tree. Good girl, GGJ! :inlove:

Well, the decision has been taken out of my hands. I can't use Alexa as it upsets Joy too much! She just couldn't understand who I was talking to and started crying and barking and looking around for someone else. So that's that! Can't have my girl upset, will just have to switch the radio on manually. It really is no more difficult than talking to an android or whatever Alexa is. Our dogs always know best!
