Er, you could say things haven't gone entirely according to plan. Joy and I set off for our walk after breakfast and after about 15 minutes I put her back on lead as we were approaching a busy road. We took a few more steps then I somehow managed to fall over! I was holding Joy's lead with my right hand and put my left out to save myself. That's when I felt an all too familiar pain.I asked Joy for a sit and stay while I got my breath back and waited for the dizzyness to pass, then struggled back to my feet and headed carefully back 'home'. I was pretty sure I needed A&E, so sent my brother a text. He wasn't able to leave work immediately, so in the end my SIL's sister, a retired nurse kindly took me to hospital. An Xray showed that I have what was described as an 'unusual' fracture, and a bone knocked out of place (so that's what the crunching noise was!) The outcome is that I'll need surgery, which they can't do until after the Bank Holiday, so for now my left arm is in plaster and I go back on Tuesday to find out about the surgery! I could have opted to return home for this, but I felt it made more sense to stay here where I' m not on my own and Guy and Jenny were in agreement, thankfully. Little Joy, who is being very very good will be happy about this, no doubt.
What next? I wonder!

Just buy a great big can of dry shampoo. Job done

Going to the hairdresser is a good suggestion. Good that you are not alone!

Back in the car! Joy has gone for a walk with Jenny's sister, BIL, their two collies, who she's met before, also Jenny's brother and his partner. Although it was very tempting to go with them I just daren't. Another fall at this stage could be disastrous! So I'm sitting here with my mobile and my Kindle for company (which means all of you, so that's OK) and trying to be very sensible. This is what I can see of where they're walking.

Oh what a shame and a sad outcome to your trip!! But you seem to be making the most of it. Get well soon!! When I broke my wrist I found saggy tracksuit trousers were the only thing I could wear, as I couldnt do zips up. Lovely.

You have an amazing attitude though and even make THIS sound like fun...well, except for the broken bone and Op part of course. I love that GGJ always has her green frog (?) with her. Maybe she'll loan it to you for some cheering up while you're healing.

The green frog is actually Mr. Croc, one of Joy's toys that resides permanently here in Hucknall. She loves him VERY much!!!

If you find yourself struggling with your broken wrist, spare a thought and a smile for the young lady I met a couple of years ago in Andorra who had broken BOTH wrists while on a snowboarding holiday with her new boyfriend. Their relationship was shifted into the rather more personal, as he had to do everything - everything - for her!
