Untidy moult

Chocolates look so untidy when they moult!!

Squidge has taken forever to shed her coat. She seems to have done it from the middle out. She now has a patch on each shoulder, her ruff and her bum/tail that need to go. She looks ridiculous:

Honestly, her bum hair is about 2cm longer than the rest of it! She doesn't like me brushing the royal bloomers and life is too short. So I just point and laugh instead.

Murffi my chocolate cocker is the same. I had a good session with the Mars Coat King yesterday to get rid of the fluff, I couldn't stand the scruffy look any longer.

That's a new one on me! I have something like a Furminator. It's really good, and she doesn't mind having her back and sides brushed, but she's not too keen on the bloomers and tail. I have other things higher on my list than working on that with her. Last night I sat with her on the sofa, pulling out clumps with my fingers. It was quite therapeutic and I made some good headway, but I really need to hoover now :D

A Mars Coat King is a must for spaniel coats. It gets rid of the dead undercoat and also de-matts depending on how you hold it, so perfect for spaniel ears. A Furminator can cut the tip of the coat which can make it feel and look a bit blunt.

I left my "Furminator" in Spain so I bought another of a different brand in Andorra in the winter. The difference is very pronounced. The new one definitely cuts the top coat, whereas my old one doesn't at all. I decommissioned the new one immediately. The old one is really effective at getting rid of old hair without cutting anything. If there's hair to pull, it gets out duvet-loads, but if not, it does nothing, just as you'd want.

I would drive Squidge nuts as when I see that longer fur just waiting to fall out, I just HAVE to give it my patented gentle pull-wiggle to get it out. It used to drive Brogan nutty.

I think the choccies are gorgeous (and yellows as well) but Carbon has brought me 100% over to the black side. He shed like mad in Spain and I thought, "Yikes, this is a little much!" but now that he's gotten rid of his shelter fur, he hardly sheds at all. Yeah, I"m sure he'll properly moult at some point, but for now I am basking in the hairlessness! :)

Oh Benson has such an untidy moult! He looks so scruffy...his old coat looks lighter and patchy. I groom him gently once a day, but leave his bottom area and tail alone :) The only way I notice the blacks moulting is when my house crocs change from green to black more frequently...

Quinn had a really hideous moult this spring/summer...patchy red/brown tuffs all over, tail was sad looking. This was the first year the shedding really got to me in the house! She's done now I think (fingers crossed!).
