I have checked her paw, but as you say they can travel deeper, so the visit to the vet is a must. It really does seem to be her shoulder joint that's bothering her though, or possibly her elbow and the problem first seemed to appear back in January or February from what I remember, then nothing at all throughout the milder weather. She seems young for this poor little sweetheart, only three.

Poor girl, has she had an exuberant run around lately? Maisy tends to twist her foot quite easily if things get a bit lively, not always but you never know when. Good luck at the vets :lambies:

She is the Queen of exuberant run arounds! I don't think that this is quite right for a fit and healthy three year old little Labrador though. You know when you just know your dog?

Good luck at the vets, poor GGJ and you for the worry. I hope it is something like the slight sprain that Maxx had recently as he was fully recovered after 10-14 days of limited activity and NSAID's.

Maybe some new games in the garden, not so physical? Sniffy search games are fun.

We have a tin with small toys and tissue - wrapped oregano to make them smell. I hide them round the place and the dogs sniff them out and bring them to me for fish cube rewards. ( both get a reward when one finds a toy).

I tried another short on lead walk thismorning and once again she stopped as soon as we were through the gates. She has an appointment with Chris, the vet who wants to steal her at 2.30 . I would normally walk her up there but it doesn't look like that's going to be possible so I decided that it wouldn't be unreasonable to call in a favour from Tess's Dad. He has agreed to drive her up and I will walk and meet them there. He seems to think it would be OK for me to go in the car, but if I'm not allowed in someone else's house, how am I allowed in his car? Anyway it's not exactly a long way.
Joy is her usual lively self apart from not wanting to go for a walk. I am feeling a bit lost without our morning hike and have had to resort to housework to pass the time!:shock:. The bathroom, hall, stairs and landing are now very clean and that's quite enough for now!

Back from the vet now. We didn't see Chris after all, it was Richard, a new vet to the practice. He seemed very nice and was lovely with Joy. He thinks it may be just a pulled muscle, says she's clearly a very fit and active dog and that if she's been racing around with friends (which she has) this is the most likely explanation. He said that if it was early signs of elbow dysplasia it would have happened when she was younger. She's got Rimadyl, which she loves for a week and is to have short on lead walks only. If there's no improvement after a week or if it happens again he wants her to be seen again and will consider referring her for a CT scan. He said it was nice to see a Labrador and not have to recommend weight loss!
Looks like I'm in for a week of housework. :scared:

Glad to hear that the vet is not worried about GGJ and she will soon be back to her happy self.

Don't work too hard @Candy on the housework.
