I wonder if its a bit like people this time of year? Schools back, people back to work and routines after holidays, picking up lurgies left right and centre; maybe a lot of dogs have had different routines (like owners being on holiday), so returning to the regular habits means they're more likely to pick up bugs? Plus the change in seasons means different bacteria, parasites etc. for a different time of year... Just an idle mulling really
