What frights, what scares, makes my heart beat overtime. My one German Pointer fell down the side of a quarry onto hard rock, I thought she was dead, but she survived!
Oh that's horrendous! Lady luck was watching over her that day.My one German Pointer fell down the side of a quarry onto hard rock, I thought she was dead, but she survived!
Shadow was air-scenting and I just said, I need to put him on lead because something's amiss, when he started up the bank. Willow followed, then Squidge, and I'm sure they wouldn't have without him, but normally they will come straight back when called, but this time, not. So I wish I know what it was that had them going, because they are all "pulled" by different things, yet none of them responded. It was pretty surreal and I'm none the wiser.Bloody hell @snowbunny how unusual for your lot! Did one of them lead and the others followed or were they independent?
I’m 70 and have always had a dog. When I was much younger, I hardly ever worried about my dogs. Now, I worry more because I’ve seen all the creative ways that can get in trouble. My heart is permanently scarred by all the frights the dogs have given me! I seriously question whoever thought owning a dog would be good for your physical and mental health?
BJ clambered out of the ditch and proceeded to go crackerdog round the field to cover his embarrassment
Nope, very weird. It could be all sorts of things. Maybe one of the saw or scented a deer. Maybe they found something disgusting to eat (my recall doesn’t trump face full of rotting something). Maybe the people were fussing them. Who knows?!How're you doing this morning @snowbunny ? Just re-reading posts on this thread, I'd have been mulling that mystery for a while. Any theories emerged overnight?
Yep - the eternal 'maybes' can float downstream. You are wiseNope, very weird. It could be all sorts of things. Maybe one of the saw or scented a deer. But the information is: I need to do some more robust recall training![]()
Wow that’s scary. Does she have dew claws?Quinn at around a year old ran out onto a partially frozen river and jumped into the water after some ducks and couldn't get out. I screamed at her but it was too late, she was in the river. The edges were all ice on both sides and she couldn't pull herself out. She was crying and struggling with her front paws on the ice and falling back into the water, and I was panicking she was going to drown. My dad was taking his shoes off, getting ready to jump in to save her when I guided her downriver with a stick to where there was less ice and I could go out onto it, and pulled her out by her collar. I refuse to walk near any water in the winter now. Gave me a heart attack.
With our three if they are in a particular "buzzy" mood, one of them can set off the other two. For example, Casper may see something odd /interesting down the lane and like a bullet he sets off, Bramble just loves a chase....and Benson will go along for the ride!Nope, very weird. Totally, they are so easy one on one, but together, they can definitely egg each other on. Little monsters! It was more the not coming back that was concerning and weird for them. With our three if they are in a particular "buzzy" mood, one of them can set off the other two. Yes she does, but they were useless against the current of the river and iceWow that’s scary. Does she have dew claws?
