What is the saying?

A good friend’s cat is nearing the end of his life, dealing with cancer and other issues. He’s 12.5 years old. My friend is accepting his time is near, saying it’s quality over quantity. Isn’t there a saying that’s been shared on the forum, something along the lines of a day early is better than a week late? can someone please help me phrase it properly, I think it would really help her out. ❤ Thank you.

We generally say "rather a day too early than a day too late". If you want to use day/week then I'd switch them to "rather a week too early rather than a day too late" would be my preference. Because a whole week too late would be horrific.
Yes, definitely. Makes more sense that way.
