What other breeds do you like?

I love Great Danes but after seeing my friends and how big they actually are I just don’t think I could cope!

I always wanted an Irish Wolfhound, like @Cath I've got reservations about health and lifespan but not ruling it out down the line. I also love deerhounds and lurcher types, and very keen on spaniels if we had the time and could work them regularly.

Having grown up with gundog breeds, I am still drawn to spaniels and retrievers, I think if I have another dog I'd like to try a Clumber, although I don't know much about them.
I've had 2 lovely border collies in the past, loads of fun but they were both working sheepdogs, I wouldn't want one in any other capacity. I've also got to know lurchers pretty well, one three quarter deer hound and her daughter a greyhound, fabulous dogs.

So I think a clumber spaniel or whippet lurcher.

I really like Wheaten Terriers, that’s what we were looking at when we got sidetracked into chocolate labs. At that time they were nearly all docked and the waiting list for undocked was very long.

Rottweilers are still my spirit animal. No surprise there. Rotties will always be my heart breed.

Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs (Swissys). Never had one, but they seem like what Rotties used to be 20 years ago in terms of temperament and energy. Just big galoofs and so handsome and gentle.

And two breeds I'd never thought I'd love but did a complete turnaround after fostering them: Chihuahuas and Bodegueros. Someday I'm going to have a rambunctious yet cuddly little Bod who will drive me and whatever larger dog I have completely nutty balls. :D

Shorthaired dogs for me. I have had German Shorthaired Pointers and loved those. I went out with a Cocker yesterday, it quartered a whole field in two seconds or so it seemed!!! In the house it was never still. Lovely little dogs, but I couldn't live with one, I like a dog I can go out with and it stays relatively close without me having to nag it, Cockers would have to be trained to keep a close distance and I am not of that persuasion

I'm stuck with the gundogs too.

I'm really interested in the Tollers, if I could possibly manage not to have another Lab. Their size appeals to me as they're not quite as strong and they're a bit lighter/more agile so a little more suitable for sports such as agility.

I do like the look of the Vizsla too, especially the smaller females.

I love golden retrievers but each one I've ever met is a bit nutty. I also love spaniels....those ears.....

I've only owned two dogs - both labs - so I don't think I will ever have anything else
