A little nervous? I’d be terrified! Have there been many bear incidents near you, Lisa?
There are bears around, but mostly they stay away from people, thankfully. This footage was taken in Northern Alberta, about 4-5 hours north of me. But there are bears here, too. These are grizzlies. Mainly around here you see black bears, but grizzlies have been spotted around here, too.
There was a dreadful attack earlier this month in BC. Two woman seriously injured.
But attacks are rare, and usually only if you surprise them while they are feeding or threaten their cubs (ie get between them and the cubs).
However, knowing they are out there is disconcerting, even so.

The bush we walk in across the road has deer, and that in turn brings in the odd wolf. There have been quite a few bear sightings in our area this summer, which is a bit unusual. I always let someone know where we’re headed (which trail loop), and approx time of return. And I always walk with a bear banger.

We have wild boar in our woods, and I have never heard of any issues, as they are much more afraid of people than we are of them. They don't like dogs much though.

We also have lynx and the occasional wolf, but no-one ever sees them. Nothing nearly as scary as a bear!!!

Yes…however the danger is that he runs into a bear, turns and hightails it back to you, with bear in hot pursuit! :run:
Yes! That was always a worry but luckily Axel never went more than 20 feet from me and I was always listening and watching around us because bears while very cute, are a huge fear of mine lol. But it was still a worry because you just never know! I never have come across them on our walks, I have without dogs though. Axel would scare them out of my yard though 😬 oh the anxiety every time he barked outside. He was not a barker so I always ran and got him inside pronto! 😳😱
