So far today (and we are just past lunchtime), Primrose has chewed through a macbook charger (I'm sure she got a little zap from that) and the piano pedal cord. Both happened in seconds - while she had a tendon chew!! I can't keep her crated all the time, but honestly - she just goes around looking for things to get into. Not to mention she's nipped both of us today - it really hurts.

Although I have never been a fan, I'm really considering putting her in a half day of daycare of something once a week.

Oh dear, little tyke , you must be so worn out with her antics . Please dont feel bad about maybe putting her into dog day care once a week , it will give you a break and will do her good ( plus tire her out ! ) I dont feel remotely guilty at Reuben having two days a week even though we are retired , he loves it and I recharge the batteries xx

I did exactly that with Joy when she was about six or seven months. I could foresee that with my husband being not in the best of health I might need somewhere safe to leave her from time to time and I wanted it to be somewhere she was used to and where she was known. She was a little apprehensive initially but quickly grew to love it and it proved invaluable.

I started Reuben going because I wanted him to be used to someone, should the need arise to send him more often ( I was thinking back to when I was so ill ) Now , with my surgery looming large , I`m really glad that I took the plunge because he knows and loves Anna , it will be some normality for him when I am in hospital x

Kate, your set up with Anna sounds great and I really wish we had something like that here. I do need to find someone for both dogs now that we've moved and I will eventually be back in the office. I really miss Quinn's old dog walker who would have been a life saver right now.

There seem to be 3 options - daycares, which most do not rest the dogs and are chaotic (Quinn hated all that we trialed when she was this age) - usually a big room with tons of barking dogs; a dog walker that brings 6+ dogs to dog parks - which are small and fenced and most stand there and let the dogs have at it, or private on-leash walks which I can do myself. It's proving hard to find anything that will even accept an 8 month old that isn't spayed, let alone be picky!! My dream would be a walker that takes 2-3 dogs and brings them hiking or on off leash walks in quieter places. Still searching!!

Joy's daycare had separate areas for puppies and adult dogs and an area for rest and quiet time which they encouraged the dogs to use when they thought they needed it.

Could you try advertising for someone to either walk the dogs without others or take care of them in their own home? Or do you anything like 'Borrow my doggy' where you are?

Is it possible to contact Quinn’s old dog walker and ask if they know of anyone @Ashley ? It’s a long shot I know - completely sympathise, we had Kipper in day care when he was 8 months and it was really bad for him, although we didn’t know better at the time; you want to find the right set up. Oh dear, what a destructive day for you. At around Prim's age, or maybe a little later, I was using a dog walker and putting Bear in afternoon day care. I just could not work at home all day and have him and Monty around (Monty was fine of course, but I couldn't be on the look out all the time for him). Fortunately for us my dog walker just takes Bear back to his house for the afternoon following a walk, so it's just him and his older lab, Walter. There isn;t any thing special, just a few games, resting, and most importantly an adult to keep on eye on him which I can't do when I'm locked away in the office much of the day.
