Echo’s first meeting with Tatze was a surprise. He wasn’t sure at all and kept his distance! He still hasn’t had his teeth near her apart from a tentative nibble of her paw. She didn’t know what to make of it, she’s used to pups launching at her, going straight for the throat and hanging off her tail - she’s very adept at gently holding them off. This time she was doing her best to get him to play. She was play bowing, running away, shaking a toy in front of him - all to no avail! This morning he’s given her lots of sniffs but no play yet.

Oh, I’m sure that won’t last long! 😂
I’m sure it wont!

Here is the video of their meeting - she’s all ready for the chomp of crocapup teeth and it doesn’t happen! This morning is the same - he’s following her around, checking what she’s doing and sniffing her, but no play. Of course, being Tatze, she’s just adapted seamlessly to the new normal.

Another good night - 2:30am toilet break then up for the day at 6:30am. I hope this carries on! His bedtime crate is next to my bed and his night time wee is on a puppy pad in the bathroom. This used to be completely against the Guide Dog Law. But my supervisor came on Monday and she said, without me asking, that it’s fine to have them in a crate in the bedroom for the first week or so and how we manage his early sleeping is entirely up to us.

I’m feeling very happy and daunted at the same time. I love being a puppy mummy - it’s the best job in the world. Not only that, all the boring stuff like housework is put on hold for a few weeks - playing with puppy or housework? No contest!

But I’m also daunted about just how much this sweet little chap needs to learn. And I need to learn how he learns. He’s very different from Spencer. He’s bold and happy but also thoughtful and careful. He doesn’t plough in - he thinks considers things first.
