Another 2:30am wee and 6:30am wake up. I think we can say we have a pattern. :)

Crate in the bedroom and pee pads in the bathroom for the night time wee really work - I hardly wake up before we are both snoozing again.

I think I’ll make the transition to him sleeping downstairs once he’s dry at night.

Mr Boogs is away this weekend and Zaba is coming to stay - full on doggy Mum!

When Tatze walks in the room he charges up to her then sits next to her - he just doesn’t see her as a plaything! Several times she’s tried to initiate play to no avail, yet he follows her round everywhere. He’s a happy little chap and his tail never stops wagging. 💕💕

Now it’s ‘getting used to the daytime crate’ time. It’s a fine balance between making sure he loves it by feeding and treating him in there - and making sure he knows that’s where he sleeps! It’s very tempting to just cuddle him or let him sleep by my feet - but he must learn, so the lessons must start now. (Puts determined hat on).

I’ve done lots of sitting by the crate while he settles, now it’s time to sit a bit further away and move around the room a bit. I’ve just done that and he gave a few woofs of objection then went to sleep.

He is delicious!

I’m definitely getting a golden retriever next time 🥰
My experience (Bruce, Keir and now Echo) is that they are much more thoughtful (some say stubborn, I don’t!) and less full of verve and enthusiasm than Labs. They are gentler all round and when they jump up it’s more of a ‘flobble’ than a launch. They are less ‘muscular’ in body and less eager and excitable in mind, I think.

:)

PS - Echo is 1/16th Lab so hopefully the 1/16th will help his resilience and enthusiasm too!
