The comments about breaking in shoes/boots have made me determined to conquer my Dubarry boots that sit at the back of a wardrobe. I had a tall pair but they were a bit too small and I struggled getting them on and off. I’d have to ask F to pull them off. I gave them to my daughter who has feet a half size smaller than me and she loves them. I then bought some more but a bigger size and the not so tall ones. I wore them once and they skinned my right heel. Ouch - that hurt for weeks, so never wore them again.

Love those heels @Emily

That's lovely! I also will be away this year (Little brother and Jenny) so won't have a tree as I always put it up on Christmas Eve and won't be here then. I will put a few other festive bits around the house though. Just now I'm sitting by a roaring stove with a very snoozy Joy, listening to the first (and probably favourite) Christmas CD of the season. It's Kate Rusby's 'Sweet Bells'. Does anyone else know it? These are traditional Yorkshire Christmas songs, mostly sung in pubs, particularly in South Yorkshire I believe. They're absolutely beautiful! Also very jolly, on the whole! Anyway, they're enough to make anyone smile!

Ooh @Candy , a woman after my own heart! I’m a Christmas Eve tree-dresser too.

I’ve just looked her up, sounds fabulous so I’m going to get this - I do like a bit of folk now and again. Apparently she’s on her 5th Christmas album so I’m looking forward to exploring more!

Also, alongside the jollity, 'The Serving Girl's Holiday' on 'Sweet Bells' has a beautiful wistfulness about it. So well worth a listen. I wouldn't call myself a real Folkie by any means, I just like what I like, but I do love this album. Hope you enjoy it too, if you decide to go for it.

We haven’t got a Christmas tree this year as we are going away next week, but I’ve decorated a holly sprig. The bush is one I have in my garden, a cutting off one on my brother’s farm.

So cute! I do envy you all that have REAL holly. All of ours is plastic. |(

Hubby and I decorated our tree today. We got a new tree this year, our old one had done it’s duty and more! This one has lights...white, incandescent. We added a string of coloured lights just for fun. :xmasparty: :xmastree:
