@Sophiedoodle , Lilly, Oreo and I have just set off on a 4 night break (without OH!) To a little place near Ardfern on the west coast 20 miles South of Oban.
We are planning some nice walks, some RnR and a bit of wine consumption.
Meanwhile back at the ranch our roof is half off and the workmen are being attacked by wasps, but that is a story for another thread
First stop, Falls of Falloch, see you all later x

Walked a short way up Glen Fallon. Not quite sure where the falls exactly were, but there was a nice bit of a stream coming down the hill.
Somebody :sealedlips: found both some trench muck and stinky stuff to roll in.

Took this quick snap at the bottom end of Loch Earn. St Fillans.20200828_122642.jpg

And a pretty viaduct. I think this is part of the West Highlands Way...

Just had a bite of lunch at the iconic (and overpriced) Green Welly Stop.

First of all: yaaaay!!! I love your road trips because of PHOTOS! :happyfeet:

Second of all: I have never seen a photo of Lilly where she looks so darn happy. You enjoy your muck rolling, girlfriend!

Thirdly: Oreo is business on the top (rather serious facial expression) and fun (i.e. mud) on the bottom. So funny.

Finally: yeesh, this makes me want to go to Scotland. :inlove:

After our lunch stop we continued west-bound and drove along Loch Awe, passing Cruachan, the hollow mountain.
Its currently closed due to Covid, but a fascinating place and if you are ever in the area I would highly recommend a visit. It is a water-fuelled power station (much, much sexier than it sounds) and an enormous engineering feat. They have a really good tour and visitor centre. And a nice cafe too if I recall.

We stopped for a forest walk at Fearnoch instead, much to the relief of the girls. It has turned out a lovely afternoon/evening. 20200828_154522.jpg20200828_155533.jpg

There is a paddock at our cottage for exercising dogs (there are two rentals adjacent to the owners farmhouse, converted outbuildings).the next two are in the paddock, the second looking over towards the Bay and Craobh Haven.

This is what it looks like from our sitting room window, across the owners back garden. Beautiful.
