New Toffee Thread

That's good that you have found it helpful @snowbunny and @HAH - OH kept saying he could build one cheaper but as he hasn't done it, and he's not here today, I decided to get one anyway.

We've had a lovely day, just been to the vets to get weighed - 9.4kg at 12 weeks, and then to the park to look at the ducks - very scary apparently. Met lots of lovely people as well. Now Toffee is tired out and I'm having a cup of tea before OH gets back and I have to take Ripple out (then I've got an exercise class tonight  ).

Brilliant news! The only other thing I would suggest is putting him on the lead for when you are taking him out for a wee and taking him to the same spot every time..: that worked for Mas... the downside is that now he pees in the same spot every time and that part of the garden is ruined ?

That's basically what we're doing with the pen. Although today I have been doing paperwork upstairs, and when I came down for coffee OH said that Toffee kept weeing on the floor, I asked him if he'd taken him out to the pen and he said that Toffee hadn't asked to go  . Moral of the story - first train your OH :headbang::headbang:

Do you have a 'do a wee' word? When we got Kipper, his breeder had been saying 'puddles' every time he did a wee (not first choice of word, but hey) and we plugged on with it for months, saying 'puddles' in a nice upbeat tone every time he wee'd outside, feeling like eejits and thinking this is never going to work... Actually after 2/3 months we noticed we could say the word and he'd generally do a wee. We only did this once in a while, but it was so useful for when it was raining hard, late at night etc. Since then it's been handy for car journeys if we want a quick stop, or just before we go to training etc. - not 100% at all, but quite useful as a quick prompt.

We use ‘busy busy’ for the pups (all GDs and pups use the same).

For Tatze I use ‘hurry up’.

To get them 100% you say it as they wee for weeks, then just before for weeks. It works. Of course, GDs must be clean and dry for every walk, except free runs.

:)
