I've just had a delivery from Amazon. As usual Joy did her big fierce dog bark. As usual l opened the door calling ' She won't hurt you, she just makes a lot of noise!' The Amazon man looked at her and said 'I thought she was a Doberman! She sounds like a Doberman, but she's a sweet little Labrador doing a very good job of keeping you safe!' He then made a massive fuss of her (Joy was quite ecstatic) and said that she had brightened his day!
What a nice man!

I get that a lot as Harley has a deep bark too......if they are ok with dogs I let them say hi to her, but there was one she didn’t like and just stood barking at him until he left

Maxx sounds like a large, ferocious killer dog. On Halloween I let him through the gate and he hurtled down the stairs when some kids rang the doorbell (we are NOT fans of Halloween). We have three glass panels in our front door and the kids took off in a big hurry

The tail blur! On the subject of barks, when a male stranger is at the door Chewie (if he bothers to wake up... ) does one loud, short, deep bark from the top of the stairs and rushes to the front door. I'm pretty sure it means "Answer the door mum! A friend is here" but the delivery guy or tradie doesn't know that.

Today Rowan was patting Chewie very gently. He made sure I was looking and said "gentle pat." Aww.

His daycare is bilingual and he is learning some German. He was chatting away about some of the other kids and the words "gentle" came up again and I asked if one of the other kids was gentle. He looked at me solemnly and said "nein." He cracks me up.
