A new puppy for the New Year.

Saw my neighbours today and the puppy arrival date is now New Year's day! They're starting to puppy proof and getting very excited. They asked me if I could teach them how to make sure that the puppy grows up to have 'a personality like Joy's'.
Much as I am flattered, I think that he's going to have his very own 'personality ' and that they're going to have to work with that. I just advised them to have a good look at Easy Peasy Puppy Squeezy and said that would help and advise in any way I could. I might just find myself seeking advice here!

Maybe start by gently suggesting a name change from "Loco"? And I say this as someone whose dog's name is VERY close to the slang word for a**hole in Spanish. No bueno, mis amigos, no bueno. :giggl:

Joking aside, they sound like caring people and having a sweet dog like GGJ to grow up around will certainly be a huge plus.

They are very kind and caring people and she is a Nursery worker ( children, not plants) so used to young little things. However I suspect that the hard work that comes with a new puppy may come as a shock to them, after all it does to me every time I do it again!:rofl:

I always thought cockers were worse than springers for being bonkers, is that not the case?

The people I know who have working cockers are demented%) one of them has a dog Walker come 3 times a day!

This is going to be a bonkers little Springer! I think I'm just going to love every mad and waggy bit of him!......Then hand him back :giggl:
My ex-landlord in Spain has working cockers and I loved dog sitting them, taking them to the beach, having them race around the house. Such fun dogs! But I'd also always give a little sigh of relief when he'd pick them up at the end of the day. Great dogs, but to preserve my sanity, I'm happy to have them be OPD - other people's dogs. 😁

Of course, I've had several people say the same thing about Labradors, so I guess we're all nutty in our own way.
