What made you smile today?

This small piece of pink thing is as far as Joy's concerned, her new ball. She found it up on the moor today and carried it carefully round with her, dropping it at my feet with a meaningful stare every time I stopped walking. What's more, she also convinced Maud, Fiona's Fox Terrier pup, that it was a new ball. They spent a lot of time sneakily stealing it from each other, then launching it back! Joy won, and proudly carried it all the way home, presenting it to Mark, my shed builder and asking if perhaps he might like to throw it for her.View attachment 22784Here it is next to an actual ball to give an idea of its size ( or lack of!)🤣View attachment 22785
It looked ball sized in the first photo. Not so much in the second photo 🤣🤣

I've just been thinking about this-time-a-year-ago when I took puppy Brodie out for Sunday lunch. Jess is a pain in restaurants as she always wants to make friends with everyone and I wanted Brodie to learn to settle quietly under the table while I read the paper and had lunch. Our table was next to a couple who had recently lost their beloved dog and made a huge fuss of Brodie and then the woman gave him all her roast beef. We had a lovely time but not quite the training lesson I had planned. I wonder if he remembers? :D

I was worried that my Granddaughter would grow up not being able to understand us as my son uses only German in Germany, unless we are there.

But he promised she would grow up speaking English - and she is! (Well, not speaking yet - she’s only 15 months, but understanding). She has big smiles for us on the video chat too.

He speaks only English to her, Tina speaks only Georgian and Mike and Tina speak German to each other.

When we are on video chat we ask her to bring a book then we ask her to point to the ladybird etc etc. It’s a joy.

A bit of a smile and a bit of a grimace. Chewie was BONKERS on our walk this morning. As usual people wanted to say hi to him because he is so cute, but EVERY time a person said hi to him he had an on lead zoomie. The second time this happened we had just met two border collies and their owner (who commented on how well behaved he was for a young Lab... Lol) and I had started out on a bush path, by myself, on slippery square edged stepping stones. Well Mr Excitable had the fastest zoomie ever and I had to drop the lead or risk breaking my leg/falling into a muddy puddle/other indignities. Then I looked up and saw Chewie racing into the distance towards the gully and yelled in my most mum-like voice "CHEWIE COME HERE RIGHT NOW" and thank dog he came back... I aged about ten years in that time though.

Sitting here catching up with everyone and suddenly Joy is quite insistantly nudging me with her nose. What does she want? Well, its half past five and time for me to have a shower and put my pyjamas on before the six o' clock news and more importantly a fishy crunchy stick for her! So funny!

When I was getting rorys clothes out this morning I turned around and he was trying to put his own ear drops in 😭 my heart ❤ (Also why does he look like a teenager and not a baby ☹)View attachment 22810
He is such a gorgeous little boy! But it really does make your heart ache a little when they look so grown up, doesn't it?
And then they start school 😭❤

Nathan was in charge of reading tonight

We both have 2 days off work and we tried a new place to shoot clays today. A 45 minute drive (that's forever over here 🤣), so we factored in a lunch stop at a cafe nearby. It's a very rough & ready range with some really challenging (for me) targets. It's up the side of a hill and it's quite bleak but today was lovely & sunny.. It's not really up & running commercially yet but we bobbed in with a small group and had a fun afternoon.

The views are beautiful from Sky Hill.

My “new” old camera lens arrived today. I just tried it out on a tub of Haagen Dazs at nearly 11pm... it clearly wasn’t a masterpiece but I can see the potential. It’s my first manual focus lens and it’s nearly as old as me, but in FAR better shape 😂
And this was the first time trying out my shutter finger post “the incident”. It’s not anywhere close to normal, but I can press my shutter, yay!!! 😍
