Banana Skin!

Hope GGJ's tummy troubles settle soon. It does sound like gastroenteritis rather than obstruction since she isn't vomiting up all her food. Big cuddles from fellow yucky tummy small black dog.

GGJ very settled, lovely meal with Little Brother, Jenny and Sarah, my neice. Lots of banter, good natured family arguing and teasing, a spot more wine than might be sensible, but nothing too silly. Absolutely my favourite kind of evening! Joy asleep now, all quiet, Goodnight Everyone!xxx

Goodnight Candy - hope everyone has a sound, restorative night (it’s pretty wuthering down this way!) and hopefully GGJ will be well on the road to recovery tomorrow xxx

Joy's appetite has returned, no more vomiting, no slavering or trying to eat grass, a closer to normal poo thismorning, but she's quite tired now after just a short walk, about 15 minutes. It's obviously taken it out of her so we will be having a few restful days. Travelling back home today, so she'll soon be back in her usual routine.

Won't eat her tea again now. Had a couple of licks at the sardine that I had hidden her meds in, but won't have that either. She's still not right and I suspect it's because the antiemetic has worn off. I have spoken to the out of hours vet in Huddersfield and will take her there tomorrow if she's no better, a friend has agreed to take us and is on standby. I have contacted the Hucknall vets who she saw when we were there and they have emailed their notes to the Huddersfield vets. Joy is sleeping by my chair and as I've already said I have seen her and other dogs look a lot poorlier and recover fully, but we need to get to the bottom of this now, it's been going on for too long. Poor little girl.

Oh dear, I hope she soon feels better. Can you get her to take the meds anyway? x
No, she'll only take them in sardines. The only time I ever forced meds on her (opened her mouth, put them at the back of her throat, etc.) she was so upset that she hid under the bed for four hours and wouldn't come out for anything. I've done it with other dogs and they forgave and forgot, but not my GGJ! I made the decision then that I would only do that to her again if it was a matter of life or death. Also the thought of someone holding my mouth open and forcing me to swallow something when I'm already feeling nauseous is like a worst nightmare, so no, that's not happening to her if I can possibly help it. I'll see how she is tomorrow and take it from there.
