Just a general nosy question, (again) have you seen all the seasons in the UK Emily?

Yes, I have. Though I've only had two summers here, 1991 and 1999. I've definitely seen more winter than anything else. Maybe that's why I go all ga-ga over spring?

I love Spring too. Although I like the long days and (potential) warmth of summer, I love the hope and expectation of March, April and May. Driving past places where I know daffodils, blossom or magnolia will bloom, tracking their timing every year.

Some people love autumn, but for me it is the depressing lead up to short days, dark and cold commutes, fogged up glasses, muddy walks and slippy decking.

@kateincornwall I can understand Reuben's behaviour, and also how distressing this must've been for you. I wouldn't worry a jot about @Emily_Babbelhund, she has seen very similar behaviour with Benson ... that episode is forever known as "cushiongate"

Couple of things. It could be that Reuben has have been rehearsing this behaviour, either as a distraction, or with another male dog who possibly had a bit of yeast infection, and is now generalising this reinforcing behaviour to other dogs such as Carbon.

I may have mentioned to Kate today, how surprised I was to hear that her cushions are as yet unmolested.

This is how I feel too @Natalie. The weather here in autumn is beautiful but I keep thinking about the fact that dreaded winter is next. It's so much better, though, now that I WFH permanently. No more freezing commutes at 6.00am

I`ve made the appointment to have a chat with the Vet on Tuesday morning . Reuben was exhausted last night after all the shinnanigans of yesterday , he went very soppy, subdued and weary and I felt so terribly sorry for him . Today I have my calm lovely boy back , we met no one on our short walk , he was very attentive, enjoying his retrieves and swims .Whatever decision I make , it will have been made with his best interests , I only have his welfare at heart as I have with each and every one of my dogs over the many years of owning and loving them . For now , I`m switching off from the subject as I was very distressed last night , to the point of tears so no more of that , life is too short xxx

I have booked Reuben in for Tuesday 20th , next week . The decision has been reached after long chats with my own Vet and a lovely friend who is a senior partner in her own large practice, observations of his behaviour around certain dogs etc . It has not been an easy decision to make but it is for the very best reasons , for him not for me . I love him dearly , he is special by association and means the world to us both xx

He has a real ear fetish , this lad of mine but I know where its leading to , I expect its his version of foreplay Hoping we can meet on the beach next time , as soon as he is allowed and my blasted leg permits a shortish walk xxx
