Yup this will likely be the ā€œstickingā€ snowfall for the season…we’re stuck with it until spring now. Unless something very unusual happens!
To be fair, I did not have to shovel all of the driveway. I do have a snow blower, but it’s a smaller, lighter one. Which makes it easier for me to manoeuvre but it’s not so easy to push through heavy drifts like we had on Tuesday. I had to shovel some of the tops off the drifts in spots because the blower couldn’t blow the snow over top. Then I had to shovel the front and back paths to the doors, and the deck…

I'm glad we're going to Fiji after Christmas so we can have 10 days of summer. Coming out of lockdown, everyone was looking forward to a hot, sunny summer - especially as last year was wet and cool. Sadly it's not to be as the BOM have announced a very strong La Nina influence that means an ever wetter, cooler summer. Boo. Today we're expecting up to 50mm and it's supposed to rain for the next week.

Same rubbish down here too šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļøšŸ™„

We had our first (light) frost this morning. Just some ice on the windscreens & some beautiful brushes of bright white on the fallen Autumn leaves. Just a touch on the grass in the field too. It is a fine and sunny morning with not a breath of wind. How I would love to tramp over the hills.

Just a little snapshot of some of the destruction caused by the BC floods. The scale is truly mind-boggling. Not to mention the tens of thousands of chickens, hogs and cattle that perished, people’s livelihoods destroyed. Another massive rain predicted this week. There’s flooding on Canada’s east coast, too. Yeesh.

A terrible tragedy, I do hope they manage to restore without another storm.
It’s truly mind—boggling. The Coquihalla is the main focus right now as it’s the main east-west highway but there are several roads/highways that are destroyed. Along with the power poles that bring electricity to the people living along those highways. Floodwaters have taken out bridges, changed the courses of rivers, destroyed farms and houses. The rebuild will take a long time, and we’re heading into winter.

Truly awful @Lisa

Here in our land of drought and flooding rain, some of the poor farmers who lost their crops to the bushfires of 2019/2020 now have lakes where their crops should be. We are having back-to-back La Nina weather pattern which is rare and the last time this happened (2007>2009) we had some of the worst floods and cyclones ever. Yikes. November has already been our wettest ever.

Very bad road conditions this morning on the major North-south highway that connects Edmonton and Calgary. We had a band of freezing rain go through and the highway turned into a skating rink. Worst conditions than many of the area police etc have ever seen. There was a huge pile-up involving three semi-trailer trucks and multiple cars. Many accidents around the city. Here we got a smattering of rain but it wasn’t bad at all. Just got a text from my son - he was travelling to Calgary from Edmonton early this AM just as the rain hit. He was still on the outskirts of the city so had decided to turn around when all traffic was stopped because of the major accident. He was stuck there for about three hours. I’m very grateful I didn’t realize he was on that road this morning!
