I also want to know how you walk a dog and keep your walking shoes so clean?? White trimmings still white??
Oooo, it is my amazing cleaning secret!

Er, not really, they are just fairly new and I've only been wearing them when I go on the coastal path, where it is usually sandy or rocky but not muddy. They are my special treat shoes because they are so springy that just wearing them cheers me up. 😊

Is the water freezing cold? Carbon does look lovely in his wetsuit!
Yes, it's pretty cold. The outside temperature has been between 1-10C last and this week. He went in last week without his wetsuit, but he's happier with it. Mr. Google tells me the water temperature here currently is 10C, which is also the same as in Northern California (where I'm from) all year round. So I've swam in that kind of water, but not for a long while, and not when I couldn't get out to air temps of 30C plus. But heck, it's fine once your extremities go numb. 😁

Si, si, you speak for yourself, ML. I am a very handsome Señor and even though some of my "extremities" are only decorative, I still do not want them going numb. Por favor, keep putting my very guapo orange wetsuit on my adorable body so that my extremities may be happy, no?

I was going to say that our sea temps in Cape Town are also 10C. But then I looked it up and read that it’s 15C!! That can’t be true. It is freeeeeeezing. Snowie happily goes in on a hot day—very cooling. But he refuses to be showered by the cold hosepipe. For bath time, it must be nice warm water.

15C is still pretty cold - not like you're going to go in and think, "Ah, just like bath water!" I grew up swimming in cold water (both ocean and pool) and the first time I went to the US east coast in the summer (only time actually) and swam, it felt disgusting. Like I was swimming in other people's sweat. Now I'd love it!

A friend of mine in Ireland swims every day year round and keeps telling me to try it out here in Cornwall. I know he's right and it would make me feel great, but mentally I can't get over the idea of getting in water that cold and then getting out wet on the beach when the air temperature is also chilly (5-10C here lately). Every year I say I want to do it, every year I chicken out!

In summer, I could swim in the Danube with Carbón, but I'm afraid of the beavers. Nope, not getting in with those beavers. 😳

I'd just like a nice clean and warm swimming pool, please. 😁

Cold water immersion is a big thing here. Everyone is hoping it will keep them looking young. The ones I see are toned and smooth skinned with no wobbly bits, but I’m sure there is a lot more going on (“behind the scenes”) than just cold water. You see them immersed up to their necks, staying for the magical 20 minutes per the teachings of Wim Hof. My husband calls them The Chattering Classes. As in, chattering teeth!

I do try to swim when I can. The fear of that initial plunge into the freezing ocean is like jumping off a cliff. But it is exhilarating.

Same here. Although I think it's one of those causation vs correlation arguments: people with no wobbly bits are more likely to be the types to jump into cold water vs cold water solves your wobbly bits. 😉

But if jumping into cold water COULD solve my wobbly bits, that definitely adds extra incentive! 😁

Our pool has solar heating and is currently set at 30c.
Oh, that sounds wonderful, I don't think I've ever been in a pool that warm. Of course the only reason I get any exercise when I swim is that I'm trying to get warm, so in a 30C pool I'd just float there like a happy whale and all 'exercise' aspect would be totally lost. 😂

The sea temp here is 24c to 25c at the moment, and any less and it's too cold for me! Our pool has solar heating and is currently set at 30c. Tomorrow is supposed to be 35c outside so the pool might be a little less than refreshing.....but still ok for chicken-little here
I'm the same. My in laws don't have pool heating and have a ridiculously large pool for a house (they didn't really want it... But the house had it) and it's only usable for a couple of months IMO. We will have a small, heated pool!

I'm from Durban so the ocean here always feels cold. Why isn't it 27 degrees all year???

My daughter lives in Finland, and when I visited her last winter we went to a sauna and then ice swimming... Seriously, you come out of the sauna, run across the icy planks, climb down an ice-covered ladder, and plunge into the frozen Baltic sea!! (They make a hole in the ice for this.) I thought it would be hell, but actually it was wonderful - gave you a complete high afterwards. I went in three times!!!
