The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

Your stamina is impressive @Emily_Babbelhund !!! And yes, I am with you on the relishing doing nothing on a flight. I can’t wait to just watch one movie after the next with no guilty feeling that I should be doing something useful! Although on my last flight, I could not keep my eyes open.

Best wishes to you and Carbon for a safe and wonderful trip to see Cookie Man.

Hola amigos! That is all for Germany, we are now waiting for the plane to visit Cookie Man. I had a big wee and a big tu-sabes-qué, and a big walk around Munich airport that I did not really need but it is tradition so we did it.

We are both muy cansado, very tired, so we are happy to sit and do nothing (like Amiga @M.F. said). We would rather do nothing in a comfy sofa with a view of the sea, but life is full of compromises, sí?

And I am about to be fed mas o menos constantly - and food I am normally not allowed like popcorn, crisos, cereal - for the next six weeks. With that in mind, the plane ride does not seem bad at all!

Thank you for the kind messages - and to Kate for flight tracking. Didn’t mean to keep you up so late!

It was a long but easy flight. Carbón was so very good - really I think the best he’s ever been on a flight. Either it’s his age and sheer number of flights (this is about the 20th Europe to California haul he’s done) or it was simple exhaustion after our mad dash from Cornwall, fun but busy days in Brittany, and then a further mad dash to Germany.

We did have some minor adventures en route that I hope Carbón can fit into his busy Cookie Man snacking schedule to tell you about later. 😉

@Jacqui-S very astutely you are correct that the US is not a trip for fun. Culture shock (and price shock) has already hit hard and there’s all that messy ‘family stuff’ (enough said) but Carbón will help me have some special moments too. He’s a good teacher that way. ❤

Carbón using my foot for a pillow as he always does. (We got rid of that icky plastic airline blanket after take off. )

Carbon is such a good dog and probably the most travelled in an aeroplane, let alone on land :sun:

Hearing about Carbon’s 20 trans-Atlantic flights (he returned, so 40?)…!! I just love Carbon’s rags to riches story. The Book. We want to read The Book!! Have I mentioned that before? 😜 Carbon, you might need to write it yourself as your ML is too modest. 💗

Weee, I am back, amigos! Pues, kind of, since tonight my paws are tired and I am ready for my big siesta. But just to let you know that I am still alive and silly ML has not permanently put a stop to my gentlemanly musings, here is my best pose from today exploring Certaldo. There was a market and everything smelled soooo good! And I made lots of people stop and pet me. The older I am, the better I get at sucking new amigos into my orbit of adorable. Ojalá, if you got it, use it!

And just because I can, here is also my best photo from our last visit to California. The wind in my ears, qué bien!

Today I joined a group of tourists to show them how to model and generally improve their photos. ML says I am out of control. I say my adorable gentlemanliness needs a wider platform and if SHE will not start that Instagram page for me, I will simply find someone - or several someones - who will. Porque non?

I also made this nice Señor smile. Que bien!

Hola amigos! I am so very far behind in my travel tales, but because ML and I are headed to a different home in Italy tomorrow, I wanted to share some of my best poses.

We have been in San Miniato now for two weeks. A lot of this time has been ML staring at her computer and growling, but we got to visit Amiga Cecilia in Florence three times, we found a dog park in San Gimignano, and Certaldo was so nice that we went twice. Ojalá!

My handsome Spanish gentleman feet have gotten very tired lately, and when this happens, ML says I make the “I am being held hostage against my will, ayuda me!” face.

Vale, I must this is a leeeeetle bit true. But it does get me a rest, a cuddle, water, and some treats. So…would you not do the same?

First up, some philosophy disguised as advertising on a shop window in Florence. ML says I am her home, so where I am is her home. That is very sweet, claro, but I also need a sofa. And a pillow. Definitely a pillow.

We made three visits to Amiga Cecilia! Here is our traditional annual photo. ML has been visiting nearly every year for 18 years. They talk and talk and talk. We used to also sightsee in Florence plus talk with Amiga Cecilia. Now we talk for three hours and sightsee for one. And porque no? Florence never changes, but Amiga Cecilia always has fresh news!

What I look like in the morning before walking around.
IMG_6038.jpeg

And prime examples of my “hostage” face. Will she never take me home for dinner?!
IMG_6186.jpeg

IMG_6149.jpeg

But I like Piazza della Signoria so you get a happy face. Why? Because 8 years ago a man fed me a sandwich on the corner here. A gentleman never forgets.
IMG_6084.jpeg

I also like a tourist cuddle. I get lots of attention when we stop. People take my photo and tell me I am guapo. Who would not like that?
IMG_6191.jpeg

And finally today. ML and I went to the antiques market in Lucca. There were so many dog amigos to play with, especially golden retrievers. Why? Who knows. But it was fun!
