He’s been wiiide awake and a proper ball of energy since 6.30. 4 hours later, keeping everything crossed that this is a proper sleep! Now I can finally take Mr incredibly-patient Kipper out

He’s already managed to get into the raised beds, which we’d hoped would take a bit longer (so naive!) - here they are, i can see the attraction to a 9.5 week old puppy…

His teeth are very needly at the moment!

Kipper is coming round, and we’re so pleased we’re taking it slowly. We spoke to a trainer yesterday which was very reassuring - in our sleep deprived state we were a bit anxious about how to help everyone settle in, so it was great to have a clear, friendly expert to talk it through with. We’re slowly introducing garden sessions with Kipper moving freely and Stilton in his pen with one of us keeping him quietly occupied. We’ll move onto Stilton being on lead and harness and doing joint settle sessions at distance, decreasing as we make progress. Ella (the trainer) made the excellent point that in a couple of weeks we’ll be able to walk them together which will really help with learning to ignore each other. Here’s our garden session earlier.

Watching the birds on the feeder this morning after an hour and a half of proper roaring donkey behaviour.

Following this thread is bringing back so many memories of five years ago when Joy was a roaring donkey and we were sleep deprived! At the time it seemed to go on forever but now it's strange to think that she was such hard work, given the sweet and gentle girl she's grown to be.

We’ve been doing some play with the dog ramp this morning

He's looking oh so regal sitting on that ramp. He's already changing before our eyes but still has the sweetest, most 'old soul' kind of face.

Agree! That pen is very swish and spacious. I'd be quite happy to just have a lie (lay?) down in there with him and play puppies for an afternoon. Well, I do that regardless of the pen, but you get the idea.

I know we’re on different trajectories but I entirely sympathize on the febrility (is that even a word?)…

Just realised I have done Joy an injustice. It was actually six years ago that we were at the sleep deprived, torn clothes and bitten hands stage. Five years ago she was already GoodGirlJoy!

Thanks friends! I’m pleased we got this one, it’s more substantial than expected but means we can lean on it and we extended it after his first night with us to give Stilton more lounging room outside of the crate. He’s taken to it beautifully and it gives us more options if we want to corral him while Kipper explores the kitchen. We’re very grateful we can fit it in!
