Look who is home xxx These are just two of the bite wounds , there are many more but the Vet thought she would do better back with us . She is running around on her three legs and has a mass of meds to take , Vet check in the morning but for now , she has done a wee and a poo on the garden and is settled on the sofa by my side xxx

Great to hear that Nelly is back home - I'm sure that she and you will feel a lot better for it.

Obviously, Nelly's well-being must come first but, when you get a chance, do make sure that you make a police report and pursue payment of the vet bills from the responsible party.

Poor little Nelly, those wounds look pretty horrific. Such a brave and strong girl though, and she will be all the better for being back where she belongs, at home safely with you.

How are you and Paul doing with dealing with all the emotions?

Agree with @UncleBob about filing a police report, also take multiple photos of her injuries and back up the files. The mastiff owner needs to be held financially responsible. Having everything documented will make it harder for her to wiggle out of her obligation. Also understandable that this is not your top worry right now, but it may help you later.

I have been in touch with the police , they cant pursue without a name but have given me a crime report number and when I do find her ( and I will ) I will pass on her details to the police . Her friend who was with her and witnessed the attack has been in touch with me but is reluctant to give me the name of her friend but I will ask her again and stress that if she does not pass on her friends details , it will only make matters worse . Obviously , Nelly is our priority at the moment , her amputation wound looks amazingly good but her bite wounds not so great , much bruising going on under the surface . We are so glad to have her home , Reuben wagged his tail like mad but has given her a wide berth ,, good lad xxx

So much to deal with at once and even so, you’re on top of it with the police and the rest - not something many could do. I misread one of your earlier posts as I thought you were already in direct contact with the other dog’s owner. Hiding behind her friend is low.

Have you given the friends number to the police? Surely the police can track her down from her phone number and go to speak to her and find out the womans name from her friend? Worth a try x

If you've got her number you can give that to the police and they might be able to see who the phones registered to. You can also Google the number and see what happens

I can look into local newspaper reporters, if we pull a go fund me together, they may link to that to raise money. It happened recently to a friend of mine. I have a friend in the media, so will see if she has any contacts.

What a vicious attack on a defenceless little dog, those bites are dreadful. I wonder why the dog attacked so violently. Poor little Nelly, she just didn't deserve this. So pleased she is home with you and Paul.
