Perfect Fit Harness

Do you know that the perfect fit people are super helpful? I found it tricky to work out and emailed them the measurements and a pic of the dog and they worked it all out for me. Bing has always had a perfect fit harness from a puppy, and from 10 weeks to 31kg has only had two sizes of harness!! I think there is a lot of adjustments on each harness size. 😀

Argh I wish I could just take her there and try them on! Given @snowbunny comments, I'm leaning towards L-S-L as Ella does have a large ribcage (top to bottom but quite narrow) and a narrow chest.

Maybe measurements and an email would help though. The procrastination is killing me though and I just want to order 😁

I didn’t have such a good experience with Perfect Fit. The first Harness I got via the puppy trainer last year and she fitted it so it was a perfect fit. When Red grew I contacted the company and ordered on their recommendation of sizes giving them Red’s measurements. When they came (extremely quickly), the 3 pieces were too big. I should have contacted them but didn’t. I used one new piece and two existing pieces to get the perfect fit. I haven’t used her harness since our summer camping trip but hoping if I do want to use it, there’s enough pieces now to get the correct fit. They are great harnesses so good luck with your ordering.

Hi Peartree, I have an 11 week old girl lab and am looking at perfect fit harness. Please can I ask if you remember what size you started with? I was considering M-S-M or S-S-M or M-XS-M! Thank you.

Hi @lilliput - I would suggest a puppy harness until your pup is older, the perfect fit is expensive and she’ll grow out of it in no time 🐾🙂
.

Hey @lilliput and welcome! I would echo what the others have suggested, too: a Puppia or similar mesh harness to start with and then move to a Perfect Fit when your puppy is grown.

Because I will take any excuse I can, here are Shadow (yellow) and Willow (black) modelling their Puppia harnesses at about 15-16 weeks of age:

Mild hijack, but oh my! Not seen that pic of Willow and Shadow, cuteness overload :inlove::*

Oh gosh just seen this! I’m not sure what size and will have to go and see if I still have the first harness. I’m sure I started with a tiny mesh harness as a tiny pup as Boogie suggests.

I’ve just found an email of my original order from April 2015! He was born jan 2015 so would have been 12/13 weeks ish when I go the first perfect fit harness. I bought medium top, small front and medium girth. 20 mm width. Hope that helps. X

Thank you all very much! I have just joined the forum and am amazed at all your help within such a short space of time!
Betty is my first dog and I am slightly clueless! All ok although the biting was a shock! Thank you @Peartree for the sizes - I am tempted to go with the perfect fit harness if yours was from 12/13 weeks as Betty is 12 weeks on Friday. Is your dog working type? Bettys parents are quite small. Thank you X

If you want to go Perfect Fit, I suggest sending the company an email. Their support is really good, and if you find that a piece doesn't fit, they will replace it free of charge. I have sent them videos of my dogs wearing their harnesses to get their help. It's a great harness; the reason most of us go for the mesh ones first is that the PF is expensive and will have to be replaced as your pup grows. They have a fair amount of adjustment, but it won't do from puppyhood all the way to adulthood, unfortunately!
My two adult working line dogs, who are quite slight (26kg), are in M-S-L harnesses.

Pop on over the the puppy section and share stories of Betty - we have a couple of other forum pups at the moment, and several teens, so there is plenty of support. We're a small group, but very friendly. And we LOVE puppy pictures. Just saying :)

A warm welcome to you and Betty - I remember that shock five years ago and it was these people who saved my life then! Tatze was a crocapup, as most Labs are!
