Toe hair

Do you trim the fur in between the pads on their feet? I've never trimmed Ella's and have never had an issue (touch wood) but when it came up in conversation with a friend, she looked at me like :eek::eek:

No, not Molly's feet or our previous lab, I can't see any need for it.

Our Springer though had real trouble with cysts between his toes which he would chew raw, so his foot fur was clipped. Obviously the coat of a springer and most long haired dogs is totally different to that of a lab, far softer and absorbent, which has always seemed strange to me.

Both labs and spaniels are gun dogs, often expected to go in water to retrieve yet the lab has a tight oily water repellent coat while the spaniel has a soft silky thoroughly absorbent coat. Odd :shake:

Nope, never given it a thought.

Cassie loves her feet, spends a lot of time nibbling and licking them. I do wonder sometimes if something is troubling her but if it is she sorts it out herself. Or maybe it's just a hobby.
It's not like she chews them raw or anything, just sort of plays with them!

I had to trim Odie’s grinch paws quite often or else he would have no traction on the wood floors, and come inside with snow balls between his toes 😆

Axel’s I’ve never trimmed though 😊
