I’m a bit frustrated and looking for ideas.

I like all these 'make your own man trailing group' ideas! (y)
They are great, but I’d much rather just go along and be one of the crowd. I think this is because I spent all my working life organising people, especially when I was deputy headteacher, I don’t want to any more!

I’ve recently volunteered to be a host for a tea party group - you provide the tea (sandwiches, cakes etc) in your home for 8 old people who live alone. Someone else does the admin, driving etc etc, you just provide the venue, hosting and tea. I have no inkling whatsoever to help do the admin or such :)

That is wonderful, what a fantastic idea!
It was always one of the harder parts of district nursing, knowing that you might be the only person a patient might see that day, or even a week. Something like you're doing is so valuable, and makes so much difference.

Why not stick to the one mantrailing you are already going to? We are driving 1,5 hours to join! It is not in a group but private. We ourselfs make our own appointment with the trainer. Is that a possibility? Or ask the trainer if he/she know something close by your home?

It’s a car issue, not a distance issue - OH needs the car to transport his drums on the next Mantrailing day.

I’ve already asked the trainer and Bamber Bridge is the nearest they do.

I’m still working on finding a more local group, even if it’s just scent work not Mantrailing - you have all been very helpful, thank you!

Two have got back to me - they only do behaviour training. Another I’m more hopeful - and they are on the bus route. They are called WaggaWuffins :giggl:

I will continue with Preston Scent Dogs when I can, but both January dates are problematic for me and they haven’t published their February dates yet.

@Jen - I asked my brother and OH, no chance!

Mags, remind me where you are (and where you can get to easily)? I'll ask our group lead if she knows anyone nearer to you (probably not, but worth a question...)

@Boogie there are other mantrailing groups, one I’ve just looked at has days in Bury, Stockport etc, plus further afield. petrailer.co.uk and there are others.
Ummm, well thanks to @chrisc831 's link I am now going mantrailing on Saturday!!!! Sorry @Boogie
the fact that they are doing one in Nuneaton seemed to be telling me I had to give it a go - so we are! (though turns out it's Hinckley, which is a bit further away, but still pretty close)
Monty lurves sniffing, though I don't actually think he's that good at it - he'll sometimes overlook a piece of kibble on the ground - but hopefully this will give me some tips to make it more rewarding for him.

I was thinking that the other day. Badminton is lovely and quiet, a mixture of woodlands and open spaces. We had fun the other day, me hiding, and Marcus asking Bramble to "Go find mummy!" I hid some distance so she had to track me down. At a new shoot, she disappeared for a bit, over the radio I could hear one of the guys say "Bramble is here, I think she is lost? I replied, don't worry, she is fine! I guess he was used to velcro spaniels! " I am sure we could cobble something together though as a group? I have a friend who trains with the police force and trains scent work...she might be able to throw something together! :)

The Mantrailing UK website also has a section for people who might want to become trail leaders, if anyone was interested in doing it more seriously...
