New puppy owner

He should be fine without a coat , his walks will be very short to start with , and Labs have a lovely thick coat too . Just dry him off well when he comes home , he will love it , especially if you have snow !

My pups have all been in the snow at four months of age - in a ski resort :D
None of them have had coats. I had to watch skinny Shadow as he would get cold quite quickly if the wind was blowing - but our temps are a lot lower than you experience there. My youngest runs really hot and she thought the snow was utterly amazing from the very first time she saw it :D

You have to be a bit more careful about the cold when it's wet, too, as that can chill them a lot more quickly than cold and dry. So if your snow is wet, then drying the pup off with a towel when you get home (or back to the car) is a good idea.

These towels are really good - I have a similar Trixie version: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Groomers-A...722421&sr=8-4&keywords=aquasorb+dog+towelThey absorb SO much moisture, and then you can wring them out and carry on using them. Then a quick rinse and wring and keep it in the tube. Easily washable because UK + Labrador = mud :D

And a few of us :wasntme: have the Ruff and Tumble drying coats for our pups. These are great to pop on after a wet walk, either for the car ride, or for once you get home - protects your walls from damp dog streaks, too ;)

When Spencer is impatient to go out and I’m getting my coat on I say ‘it’s alright for you - you’re wearing your coat.’

We use aquasorb towels too, I have three. They are brilliant, no wet towels to dry.

When they are getting muddy every day it’s a lot of mud!

:)

Glad Oscar is firing on full cylinders! It's also good to get the puppy used to being towel dried. I always do the back paws first and then front followed by a fun tummy dry. I also say Front, Back and Tummy during the comedy of errors drying sketch! It is much easier now but as a pupster it was more of a wrestle/bite mama/bite towel/dry myself on mama sort of thing!! :)
