More puzzled....

Early this morning Finn had a surprise for me....My OH left for work on 7. I was awake but cleaning upstairs. When I came downstairs an hour after my OH left there was a large pile of poo in the kitchen. Normal poo. I cleaned it up and went outside with Finn. He tried to poo and it looked like his tummy ached. No more poo though. I gave him half his kibble to see what was going to happen. Nothing! After 2 hours we went outside again, he had normal poo. No more accidents. Finn is our 3rd lab and the first one who did this. Very strange for Finn because even as a pup he never had accidents with poo. I rang my oh if he had noticed something with Finn. He didn’t. Is there someone amongst you who had this and shed some light?

Strange, Anne.
Lilly "christened" every room with a poo or a pee as she was gradually allowed into new rooms, but all under a year old.
I guess you will be keeping a close eye on him the rest of the day.

I can't shed any light I'm afraid, but an odd question - are you sure it was Finn? Could it have been another animal coming in, say via a catflap? Finn's discomfort might be due to something else (like a strange visitor), rather than a funny tummy. The fact the poo was normal is the oddest thing, I could completely understand if Finn had been 'caught short' with a dodgy poo, but thisd doesn't sound the case. Definitely keep an eye on him for a bit.

Quinn has pooped in our house before, and I put it down to having to go so badly and having no other choice. Is it possible he usually goes at night and didn't and then couldn't hold it before you woke up? Sometimes at the start of an upset tummy the poop is normal and turns runny next day. Hard to say!

Yes it was Finn’s. We don’t have other animals, no cat flap. He is totally normal, his happy self so far!

He would have warned my OH for he was going to work. He can make it perfectly clear to us when it is time to do his business....
The only thing I can think of is that he only had one poo yesterday, normally 2. But that isn’t strange for him, it did happen often and no problems.

I'm ashamed to say that while Quinn can wake me up 99% of the time by crying at the door and/or beside my bed I have slept through before (OH sleeps through the smoke alarm, so no chance she could get him up!)....is it possible he was up over night and neither of you heard him?

No, my OH was just before in the same room with Finn. I was up and upstairs. If he wanted to go out I would have heard him and my OH was in the same room with Finn. He was half an hour alone. Then it must have happened.

And again this morning. Normal poo, not in our kitchen but on our wooden floor in the living room. He had proper pooed at daytime, had his walks, nothing out of the ordinary.
Vet appointment has been made for this afternoon. This and the spot on his nose has to be looked at!

How odd...hope you can get to the bottom of it. Poo'ing indoors I thought can also be related to psychological disturbance. Do you think anything is disturbing him at night?

No, when something is bothering him he starts barking. The curtains are closed, so he doesn’t see cats in our garden, or his own reflection in the glass of the windows.

The only thing different is that a painter comes daily to paint ur interior. But he is best mates with him.
