The vets again !!!

Just rang the vets. Receptionist checked for me and the test was done. That's something I suppose. Mr boss vet will be in Wednesday and Thursday next week. I guess I will ring Wednesday and leave a message for him to ring me. I'm not sure I should be having to chase up results though.

I would be really unhappy too. Are you considering a second opinion?
I will wait and see what happens on Wednesday. The receptionist offered to get another vet to give me the results but as I have no idea what Mr boss vet was planning on doing if the urine was or wasn't more concentrated I don't think another vet would be able to tell me much. It's frustrating because this has been going on since the end of May. After all the kidney tests came back fine I thought it was over, admittedly I'm still getting up at 4.30 to avoid accidents but Hillary seemed to think it could be due to Scott drinking more water with the heat, then Mr boss vet decides to start looking into it again. :cautious:

Oh Jen it's really not good enough. I know the vets is a difficult place for S&S but would you consider looking for an alternative, starting at basics with desensitising them? It might be worthwhile in the long term. In the meantime I hope you get the flipping results. xxx

Unfortunately Helen I've tried the alternatives this vet is the best really. When S&S got very bad with this vet I tried the other local vet. He was very good, very nice but unfortunately nervous of big dogs !!! o_O Can you imagine with my two !!! The actually got worse with him.:(I then found the mobile vet, answer to my prayers, but unfortunately she stopped practising a year ago now so we had to go back to our original vet. There is another practice near but it's a very big one and not the best reputation so I guess unfortunately it's better the devil you know. :devilish:

How frustrating for you. I actually ended up leaving a vet because the Mr Boss Vet there was never available. He was a fantastic vet but we had to book at least two weeks in advance to be able to see him.

That's exactly what this vets is like Emily. It was just chance he happened to have an appointment free last week and the receptionist gave it me because of how difficult my dogs are assuming if anyone can perform an anal gland examination on a dog reactive to touch he can and to be fair he did.

Guess what ??? The vet hasn't rung again with Scott's urine test results !!!:mad::mad: Knowing he was only in Wednesday and Thursday I rang Tuesday teatime and asked the receptionist if I could leave a message for him to ring me with the test results from last week. I rang Tuesday on the off chance he, being the boss, might go in early to check messages etc and may get chance to ring me first thing. Nothing. The annoying thing is, I think I've already said this, is he was the one who decided to try and see if he could get Scott's urine more concentrated with his feeding salt idea after looking at his notes I hadn't taken Scott in about that. Thinking about it at the time it did sound like he just thought lets have a go and see if we can. I'm giving up. I'm just going with the results Hillary originally gave me. She didn't mention Scott's urine still being dilute so she presumably wasn't concerned. There isn't even any point asking for another vet to give me the results as I've no idea what his plans were if the urine was more concentrate or not. It's just very annoying and disappointing. I'm not paying for a test I've not had the results for though.:p

That's really not good enough . Forgetting once is bad enough but not to respond when you leave messages is appalling. Of course he may not have received the messages because of evil receptionist.....

I'm pretty sure the receptionist passed on the message in fact I think she did it while I was on the phone because she mentioned she'd put it on his message board or something. The afternoon receptionists are very nice. I try to just deal with them. I know being the boss vet he's very busy, very popularo_O but it would've only been a 5 minute phone call or even get a nurse or receptionist to phone if nothing else needs to be done. It's quite worrying really. Not so much Scott's test but the fact they are so unreliable. It's happened before with my old lab and of course when S&S were pups but every time there was a blunder it was a young vet. I was once told my old lab was going to start eating his back leg because his nerves were deteriorating and a mean literally eating it !?!?! This diagnosis was because his back leg was cold. I saw Hillary a week later who told me Murphy had nothing wrong with his legs, apart from old age. Another time a young vet decided murphy had had a stroke. To be fair he was very wobbly and had nystagmus. She pumped him full of steroids. He'd recently been diagnosed with liver failure !!! It wasn't a stroke, which are rare in dogs, it was vestibular syndrome and the next day he was almost fully recovered. I could go on but I'm just ranting which is pointless. The only vet I now have any confidence in is Hillary who only works two days a week.

Perhaps worth making an appointment and pop in for a chat when she's there and see what she says about the results if you have confidence in her. At least it might give you some peace of mind x

She was the one who did all the tests on Scott's kidneys in the first place which all came back clear. I guess she might have an idea of what boss vet was looking for when he added salt to Scott's diet or could at least ask him. Presumably he wouldn't ignore a message from her. Honestly though if it was any other sort of establishment I'd be making a complaint especially after the way I was spoken to at the start of all this kidney business, why I'm avoiding morning receptionist :p, but I have nowhere else to take my dogs. :cautious:

It does sound as if a chat with Hillary is your way forward. She's pretty good with the boys and is willing to work with you to try to make a visit less stressful for them. With few choices she is your best.
I knew there was an evil receptionist in there somewhere :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:;);)
