Ooooh that explains a lot. I had a very mild experience of this at the dog park recently with Xena and a Staffie. Very minor, but I did think "where did THAT come from?" Didn't realise it was a breed trait.

My cousin has a Puggle. He was from a breeder in BC (they were living in Van at the time) and now they're living in Cheshire. I'm not a fan of the look of the breed but it's definitely a way to get the hilarious Pug character with a nice healthy snoot.

Xena's public but not flamboyant about it. Sometimes she'll go halfway down a steep bank to do one. Other times it's right on the edge of the track.

Could he be sleep walking? So he "wakes" up but he's not really awake, and is disorientated, and doesn't realise that he's not outside and then poops? It's very peculiar that he's not "asking" to go out, and just goes there on the floor. Very peculiar.
