    Stilton the Mighty

And just like that, Stilton is 6 months old! It’s more than a struggle at times, and we’re not there yet - but he’s a fabulous soul and we love him enormously. He’s a brave, cautious, hilariously funny and very affectionate little dog, and we feel very fortunate to be his humans.

I am sorry @Naya , do make sure you rest and hydrate - if you’re okay to do this that’s brilliant, but if it’s too much then let us know and we’ll sort it okay? Here’s my submission for Kipper And here’s Stilton

    Homer being sick

What a super update to read, glad it’s heading in a more positive direction and huge kudos to you for gathering a good support team. Rowing sounds fun, I guess swimming is part of the deal! Really pleased you’re not missing work.

    Water ?!?!?

Also @Jennifer (and everyone else!) - it’s entirely normal to be hyper-cautious or anxious with our pups at times - especially when they’re little and the responsibility weighs heavy! So no apologies needed, and keep firing the questions as you have them or simply sharing. This is what this...

    Car anxiety

Definitely normal, definitely a puppy thing and there’s plenty of time to help him get comfortable with car rides. Can you unpick it a bit? What is it that makes him uncomfortable? For example, is he comfortable being in the stationary car with doors open? Does he mind the engine noise? Is it...

    Is this normal?

This is incredibly normal. Barking and bouncing away are all part of their puppy repertoire for creating distance if they're uncertain, or worried, or confused. Just watching is a lovely behaviour and we try to encourage this with both our boys - giving them time to process things wherever...

Future Chocco Boy (Welcome Hugo Bear! )

Hip hip hooray! That’s great news, what an excellent trip - I bet he got to see, smell and hear all sorts of lovely new things at the hardware store. Glorious photos, you’re both very beautiful 🤩

Future Chocco Boy (Welcome Hugo Bear! )

From recent experience, I think it's so easy to judge progress (or lack of it) day to day. Or even morning to afternoon. And when you’re tired and sleep deprived and out of your own comfort zones (which you will be, because puppy) it’s a self-critical catastrophising sweet spot that can be...

Future Chocco Boy (Welcome Hugo Bear! )

Hooray for the poo 💩!! Loving these updates Kelsey. Those videos are great, his little spronks are adorable! And Gizmo is being super chilled by the sound of things, what a very good cat. You’re clearly making a great environment for them - well done, what a first few days eh?

Future Chocco Boy (Welcome Hugo Bear! )

It’s fine to complain about them and still love them to pieces! We’re all squishy creatures, not robots, with energy levels that fluctuate and arms that feel teeth and finite levels of patience - the whole glorious, messy spectrum! Two things I’ve learned - if anyone mentions alpha, or...

If it’s upsetting (you and/or him) could you tape some newspaper or a towel over the lower half of the mirror as a temporary measure just while he’s settling in? Just a bit of an easy way to manage it early days.

Future Chocco Boy (Welcome Hugo Bear! )

Egads you’re doing well Kelsey! It sounds like a brilliant set up, and you’re giving him all he needs - love how you’re already spotting some patterns in his behaviour, and he’s clearly very comfortable with you. Making you his safe place is key to everything else! Firstly, he’ll do most of his...

Future Chocco Boy (Welcome Hugo Bear! )

I hope you got a bit of sleep. Night one is often very up and down with all the changes (although we so often only hear about the ‘perfect first night!’), and you won’t have ruined anything - it just takes time. Do you need to shut him in a crate? Radical I know - but is it possible to maybe...

Future Chocco Boy (Welcome Hugo Bear! )

Hugo!!! What an utterly gorgeous, edible, beautiful little bundle of puppy he is :inlove: Wowsers Kelsey, this is the start of such a fabulous adventure. I’ve never been more grateful to Stilton for needing a 4am (BST) poo than I am right now, as I get to see your fantastic photos. I love his...

Sounds like you’ve prepped brilliantly, and you’ll nearly be there - eek! Safe travels, we’ll expect comms silence for a bit as you adapt to the new little bundle but we’re all with you in spirit. Welcome to the family, puppy! X
