    Rourke Rest in Peace

Very sad to hear about Rourke. Ruth and I are both thinking of you.

    Conversations with our dogs

Sometimes talking to our dogs gets a better response than talking to humans.

    Meet Jazz

She is tiny. That doesn't prevent her from flattening plants in the garden.

    Meet Jazz

She's finally asleep! Here are a few from her first couple of days. Some are in the garden, some in her 'playroom' (formerly known as our breakfast room). I don't want anyone to think that she's spoiled from the number of toys she has! We found a cat tunnel for £2.99 in Home Bargains and she...

    Meet Jazz

We've started our socialisation campaign Yesterday she met our next door neighbours, saw the lawnmower in action, heard a neighbour start and rev his motorbike, and sat beside the TV. Yesterday evening we carried her down to the local park and sat on a bench with her. This morning we carried...

    Meet Jazz

She went to bed at 10 and woke at 6. She didn't make a sound all night. We're amazed.

    Meet Jazz

It will probably be a disturbed night. She will have to learn that we won't come running if she whines.

    Meet Jazz

Jazz joined our family today. The three hour drive home went smoothly, and she's settled in quite well. Her first hour has been spent exploring her new home and playing in the garden with all her toys. She's finally collapsed so I have a few minutes to post this. More later.

    ?Infection

Holly hated pills too. In her final months she was having 10-12 a day. after much experimenting we started boring holes through bits of frankfurter, stuffing it with pills, then plugging the ends with leftover bits to make a pill bomb. To avoid the frank smelling of pill one of us handled the...

    8 years old

It's difficult to believe that she's 8 already. Happy birthday from Ruth and me. 'Almost a good girl' is how dogs should be. It keeps us on our toes!

    Jazz

    That's a lot of dog for a ten-week-old.

    Jazz

I guess we’ll find out when she stops growing! The breeder based this on the size of her dam.

    Jazz

    She‘s 5 weeks old.

    Jazz

Typically 8kg and about 14 inches high.

    Jazz

Her first facewash! She's so tiny at the moment, just over 1kg.

    Jazz

Gotcha day is 10th May. It could have been earlier but we didn't fancy taking her up the M5 during the bank holiday traffic jams.

    Jazz

At the weekend we went to see a litter of cockapoos and have chosen a puppy. She's a white cockapoo with black ears. Like Holly, she was not pushy with her littermates but holds her own in the rough and tumble of puppy play. Her name will be Jazz, or Jazzmyn when she's naughty! Mum is an F2...

    Alabama rot

It's mercifully rare (see map). https://www.alabama-rot.co.uk/live-map-of-cases/ Before Covid there were a few cases in our area. We carried a 1 litre spray of mildly soapy water in the car and washed Holly's legs after muddy walks. We'll probably do it for our next dog too.
