The Labraventures of Carbón, Spanish (ex-) foster dog extraordinaire

What is a "settle"? What are you trying to shape here? (I know, I sound like I'm channelling Carbon....)

    A bit of fun!

When we moved house 20 years ago, my four stepdaughters gave us a housewarming present of a wall plaque that says "Sod the dog, beware of the wife."

I'd second @Hollysdad view on economy plus - we invest in that these days for long-haul and it makes a huge difference. It is quite a lot more expensive than economy, but nothing like as much as first or business....

    Mantrailing - Pongo's new game!

I think it is a wholly natural game for dogs, especially Labradors.....after all, they are basically made up of a nose and a stomach with some feet added on so that one can serve the other. The handlers, however, do need a bit of training (as Pongo would be keen to point out after yesterday).

    Mantrailing - Pongo's new game!

He was SO pleased to find this person. He'd been sniffing round the wheels of the truck and his idiot handler (me) was assuming it was just because he'd had a pee there earlier in the afternoon, so I was making unimpressed noises....he went round the truck twice and then had a visible lightbulb...

    Mantrailing - Pongo's new game!

Pongo says the hoomans were really sneaky today at mantrailing. They were hiding in some really strange places.... but he found 'em.

There's something wrong in your pack, Roobin. In my pack, there isn't anything for the hoomans that isn't for me too. Except chocklit.

    Itchy Molly

I just paid about £110 for the shot. The vet talked to me about Apoquel as well, and it was going to be about the same price.

    Itchy Molly

Vet said that one shot can last from 4 - 8 weeks. It starts working within 24 hours (and yes, I think Pongo is already looking a lot happier); then depending on the dog and the condition it will last as long as it lasts. If and when the itching starts again, we'll go back for another shot...

Oh, thank goodness! Holly is home and in the best hands, and you've got a treatment plan. Phew. Good girl Holly. Now, settle down and get better soon, stop worrying your mum and dad. xxx

    Itchy Molly

I've just come back from the vet, when I talked (again) about Pongo's recurrent itchiness - especially ears and paws. She suggested a cytopoint injection, so we're trying that. It was great to be able to search for "cytopoint" on this forum and see the discussion here - including @JulieH...
