    Tummy problems

Jazz was violently sick on her walk yesterday, and spent the rest of the day retching. We did the usual rice/chicken/boiled egg regime, but she want interested. The real worry was that she wasnt drinking which could be serious in a heat wave. Normally we wouldnt bother the vet with tummy...

She’s back to normal now. Its just too hot for ‘normal’ running around and play.

Jazz is flaked out on the cool tiles in the utility room and only moves to visit her water bowl.

    Coffi Lab

As usual Jazz wouldn't let us pass the cafe today. If we try to walk past she either slams on the anchors or just turns into the cafe on the assumption that we'll follow. Today's visit brought mixed emotions. On the positive side we ran into some friends and their dogs. James is the sax...

    Jazz

Today we let her go off lead in the garden for the first time since the op. We just left the door open and let her go out on her own while we watched from the kitchen. Fortunately she just mooched around then lay down and sniffed the air. We're being cautious because we know she zoomies and...

    Charity giving...

We dont subscribe to charities in the street or at the door. When approached we tell them that. Our charity support is made through subscriptions and charity shops. The only exception is the royalties from ‘Holly’s Walks’ which is made by cheque to local dog charities.

We tried one of their extendable leads and it only lasted a week.

    Jazz

We’ve tried all sorts of seek games, lick mats, short sniffy walks, puzzle toys and chews to keep her entertained. What she wants is zoomies, tuggy and chasing balls. We had some success this morning with a gentle walk around the park and a visit to Coffi Lab. It had elements of a normal...

    Jazz

Day 10. Our sanity has been tested to the limit. Jazz had her stitches out this morning and is allowed ‘gentle walks’. The vet wants no jumping, zoomies or stretching for another week. Jazz’s response was to try to zoomie in their car park.

    Jazz

The vet wants to remove stitches late next week. We want to keep her fairly quiet until then. I suspect that Jazz has other plans!

    Jazz

Today Jazz had her last pain killer. She’s very restless so this morning we took her for a short walk across the lawn at the Bridges Centre to their cafe. Five minutes of sniffy walk and a stop for a quiet coffee seems to have worked; She’s now dozing quietly on the sofa between us. We might...

    Jazz

She had a good night. We carried her upstairs and let her sleep between us on the bed. We surrounded it with puppy fence so she couldn‘t fall/jump off the bed. She slept really well for the first time since the op. This morning she’s her normal self - following us around looking for bits of...

    Jazz

Its been 48 hours. Jazz’s stitches look OK with no swelling or redness. The pain killers are helping her but she’s clearly a bit uncomfortable. We had a call from the vet and were able to say that things were going well. Jazz is restless so keeping her occupied with low intensity activities...

    Jazz

Our first dog had a phantom pregnancy after she was spayed. She also developed a dislike of visiting the vets refused to go into the vet’s room. The waiting room had a church pew along one side. Gypsy would crawl under the pew and refuse to come out. She ignored all inducements, pleas and...

    Jazz

Jazz had a reasonable night. She slept fairly well and didnt move around much. We've been hand feeding her bits of chicken when she‘s awake. Its a fairly bland food in case she feel sick after the GA. Just now she had a small portion of her normal food, but we added some water as she’s not...

Weve got her a puppy onesie in case she starts licking her stitches. The vet nurse thinks her neck is too long for an inflatable collar. The vet intends to call on Wed to check on progess. The aim is for gentle walks from next week with stitches out in 10-14 days.
