5th November - a new experience

Unlike Lady, who basically couldn't care less about fireworks, Poppy is a bit concerned about the bangs and pops ..........

Actually scrub all that! She's just settled down and gone to sleep with it all kicking off outside. I was just about to post that we are reassuring her with calm voices etc and ignoring it, because she was leaping up and going to the door and pacing around wondering what the noise was about. She's currently upside down with her legs in the air and fireworks are banging away outside.

I do hope all your dogs are OK. I hate the way it seems to go on for days rather than just one night. Our big display is tomorrow at the race course about a half mile away. My son and DIL are going with their son and leaving their dog, Nina with us for a couple of hours. Fingers crossed.

What a good girl Poppy , this is grand to read . Nelly doesnt react , she can hear some high pitched sounds like my dog whistle but ignores the fireworks . Reuben doesnt seem scared , more cross ! He grumbles away , barking or growling . Good luck with Nina x

We don't have many fireworks round here thankfully. Now and again, dogs aren't happy but not over stressed when it does happen. Lucky to live fairly rurally.

That's good Poppy seems settled, hope that continues over the weekend.

Cass doesn't mind the bangs -- but those screamy rocket type things really really distress her. Luckily, living as we do so remotely, we usually only experience a few on or near the actual night.

Just a few fireworks went off. Girls started barking. Oreo ran to me to cuddle me… neither of them are scared, just a little concerned and unsure what’s going on!

I took Red out early for that last wee - usually 6pm but went at 5.30pm - we had just got to the grassy area around the corner and the noises started. She froze and then pulled to go home so I bought her home. She’s asleep as usual and I put Classic FM on to mask the noises although she doesn’t appear bothered. I’m enjoying the calming music but F says it’s ‘mausoleum music’ . He’s about to play guitar so we won’t hear any fireworks anyway .

Doubt I’ll get her out for another wee so hope she’s ok until tomorrow (we get up at 5.30am)

Reuben is currently growling with the odd bark thrown in for good measure . We are very rural but with the advent of new estates in the village , more families = fireworks x

The boys aren’t at all bothered, the cat, however, different matter. She was in her bed but kept jumping up when there were bangs and other noises. I asked OH to put some music on to mask the sounds so he put on a Beatles album - the cat looked all aggrieved and got up and went and sat in the other room, obviously not a Beatles fan .

Yes . Her last wee had been at 4.30 pm! She usually has a couple of wees as we stroll around the green….but of course not last night.

New Year's Eve is the big fireworks night here, it's like a huge mad party with EVERYONE letting off fireworks. Luckily neither of my two care one bit. Good thing about having Labradors who have been gun trained, I guess!
