Hi all, as some of you have already noted, I’ve been rather absent of late. I’m not sharing any details, but life has been rather tough and I’ve had to reevaluate some of my priorities. As you know, I’m not one to sit still and do nothing, so every minute of every day has been filled to bursting in recent times and not always with the things that are the best for my own well-being. One of my priorities has always been the running of this forum, and from its inception, I have felt a weight of responsibility for its smooth operation, including (but not limited to) keeping up to date with all the posts. That takes a significant amount of time and mental energy, especially when reading about other people’s life struggles, and it’s recently become apparent that, piggy-backing on other circumstances, this is having a profoundly negative impact on my own state of mind.
As soon as this became clear to me, I knew that the only course of action I could take was to hand that responsibility on. As long as I am the one holding the keys, I will continue to feel that I have to watch over everything that’s going on, and I just don’t have the capacity to do that anymore.
I put this to the mod team, and together they discussed several options which could be investigated, including moving the forum to another platform, but the decision was made to try to keep it as-is, and split the responsibilities amongst an admin team instead. I won’t be a part of that, but I will still be on call for as long as is necessary whenever there’s anything that needs my help.
For you guys, this shouldn’t really make any noticeable difference. No technology is moving, there is simply an ongoing transfer of credentials, ownership, and knowledge between me and the team.
I plan to remain a member of the forum, and to keep posting about my motley crew and the fact that it’s always cream on top, but without that same burden of obligation. My final act as a super-admin will be to demote myself to regular member, and I am very much looking forward to pressing that button.
I’ll probably still be a little quiet for a while, working on my brain fog and recharging. Finding other burdens I can drop.
A huge thanks to the team who are taking up the reins (I’ll leave it to them to fill you in on that) as without them, the forum would have had to shut its doors.
For now, I wish you all peace, joy, and light
