A little bit nervous

What I found terribly sad yesterday was the very poor health of Frank the French bulldog . It was warm yesterday but not hot , about 14/15 degrees but as he attempted to run around, his breathing became very laboured to the point of concern . I feel very sad for these poor dogs, bought in ignorance of the sad life they may live due to terrible breeding , they no longer resemble the breeds of years gone by and all to please humans

Yes, it is so dreadfully sad, I hate how people breed to please the masses, not the health of the dogs.

My cousin in Australia was saying there’s a move there to outlaw the breeding of these short-nosed breeds due to their breathing problems. Not sure how long that will take…

But it does make me wonder how people don’t think about a dog they’re considering to buy that struggles to breath… And there’s a real effort in mating them—they’re physically unable to do it unless assisted by a human!! Or artificially inseminated.

Interestingly, my vets practice have a post on their FB page advertising an information day for owners of brachy dogs which is being run by the Kennel Club locally to here. It's to help people cope with the respiratory problems apparently.

I suppose it's a good thing. But the whole business of breeding them wants stopping in my book.

Family came here yesterday afternoon to say farewell as they are leaving Cornwall this morning , Reubs was at playgroup . Nelly really dislikes Frank , he can be a bully, pardon the pun and she is not behind the door at showing him that she wont put up with his antics, so Frank went on his lead as he wouldnt leave her alone . Reuben came home, bounding down the path as usual and into the house for his fuss and coming home biscuit ! Frank was let off his lead and immediately went to Reuben and growled at him , up came the hackles on our big boys back and I thought Oh oh , he is going to react, but bless him, he didnt, he just stared at Frank, giving him the evil eye so at this point , Frank was put back on his lead but spent the remaining time trying to get to Reuben , it wasnt play either . Once again I was proud of Reuben for not having a go, but he was clearly not comfortable and so it was with some relief when they set off back to their accommodation which was a shame as we wont see them again for heaven knows how long xx
