I belong to a FB group called Gundog Training for Novices , I thought it sounded quite a good source of information, how wrong can you be ! Apart from the fact that some members seem to support a " trainer " who lives near to me who has some very controversial methods , there are also members who promote a kind and positive method of training . I was just reading a recommendation made by one or two members who named this man also in the West Country, near Tavistock , so I decided to look at his website . He guarantees " fixing " recall , plus a list of other issues which he says he has a 100 % success rate , interesting I thought . However , my interest waned very rapidly when I went on to read that he uses shock collars and honestly I went cold . Not that I would take Reuben to someone I didnt know , heaven forbid , but I could weep for how many sensitive dogs ( like Reubs is ) who would be ruined for life , how I hate cruel methods and he dares to call them humane x

I'm surprised he even admits to using shock collars - weren't they made illegal last year? Not to mention that I'd think he wouldn't be touting what a great trainer he is while admitting that he gets results by shocking his clients' dogs. That's pretty astounding.

No @Emily_Babbelhund , there is talk of them being banned in England , they have been banned in Wales but sadly not here x

I'd remove the link to their website - having links from other sites increases their rankings on search engines. x

Fancy using it as a selling point for his training abilities! To the more enlightened it just screams "I'm useless at training but I can scare your dog into submission for you." Unfortunately, I'm sure there will be some who make use of his services
