Aspen got attacked

@M.F. We do! We put antibiotic ointment on his face. They are scratches from the other dog getting pulled off. I would not call them lacerations, I just worry that there might somehow be tissue damage from the force of the other dogs jaws.

Of course now everyone thinks our boy is the aggressive one who instigated it because he does have his balls. But, I have never seen Aspen hurt anything or anyone, meanwhile this other dog sprained my other sisters dogs leg earlier this week.
It sounds like this Benny needs to get accustomed to wearing a muzzle until he can learn to interact with dogs without using teeth.

Meanwhile, how is Aspen doing? No problems with other dogs? As long as he comes out of this his old self, Benny is your sisters problem...though having a rescued a dog-aggressive adult dog, I'd get on it fast. It's quite a process teaching an adult dog that biting is not the way to deal with frustration! Needless to say, no one wanted their dogs near my dog either

What a scare for you, I'm sorry this happened. It sounds like Aspen has handled it like a champ. In my personal experience, it's always harder for the human to get over than the dog. Brogan was attacked a couple times and it still bothers me to think about it years later...whereas I'm quite sure within 5 minutes Brogan was thinking, "Whatever...where's my sofa?"

As a former fosterer and forever pit bill fan, I do feel for Benny as well. It is very common for rescue pitties not to have gotten proper socialisation and possibly the double-whammy of being sold out of the litter way too young. It is not intrinsic to the breed - some of the gentlest dogs I've known were pits - but as with any dog, not ever learning to 'speak dog' is a true handicap. The bright spot here, if it can be called that, is that Benny clearly didn't mean to actually hurt Aspen. It was a very inappropriate warning for something and you'll probably never know what.

Take no notice of anyone who says that to you. It was the other dog who attacked Aspen. Don't let them make you feel bad it was not your fault or Aspen, balls or no balls

So glad Aspen seems to be ok. As the others have said, give him some downtime over the next few days. After Harley was attacked the first time, she was still ok with all dogs. It wasn’t until the 3rd time that she started becoming reactive to certain dogs.

@Shamas mom He is doing well! He loves all the other dogs he plays with. There’s Copper, Clifford, Parker, Reus, Diesel, Chester, and Maggie. They’re all cousins. We love dogs On both sides of our families 😁 This has been on isolated incident of a bad reaction from a dog, so I’m sure he will be fine. Like everyone else has said, we just worry about our babies. I worry a little extra because I am also a very anxious person, ha!
