Bald spot

So everyone is back to thinking I’m a crazy dog mam who needs to stop going to the vet
Same with me Jen - 3 different vets said it was her harness rubbing her chest. It wasn't until she got a skin infection on her lower belly months later that people believed me that something was up! I think a switch to salmon to see how it goes is a good idea.

You know what? Tell them to stuff it. Of course with your OH you may want to phrase the 'stuff it' in the most loving way possible. :sneaky:

It is something unusual and if it's bothering you, it's bothering you. When you get a better idea of what's going on - from whatever means - you'll feel better. Trying to eliminate foods to rule out allergies sounds like a smart move.

Gave Stanley his salmon food for the first time today. Then OH took the bag upstairs to be put away.

He’s been sat at the bottom of the stairs longingly ever since doing little whimpers.

I thought he was greedy before but this is whole other level 😂🙈

@Jen. I meant to reply to this thread before, to say that Cass gets bald patches like that on her underside from time to time, on her chest and tummy, and the hair has never grown back on her op site. They seem to move about a bit, and she has had bald spots on the back of her hindlegs. It is a bit odd, I've never known it before. I would photo it but right now they've grown back!!

Being as I have a reputation for being so laid back I might fall over I work on the principle if it doesn't worry her it doesn't worry me, I haven't fretted about it. But if they return perhaps I should get them looked at.

Ohhh he’s definitely going bald.

I had been checking on it and it seemed to be staying the same but when he laid down last night it’s gotten worse recently.

Definitely a trip to the vets this week 😭768479FF-5FBD-4BE9-8446-A987665C5644.jpeg

Oh dear. You don’t think it is from lying on that spot? Hopefully the vet will work it out. They might take a skin scraping to check for mites or mange. Best of luck. I hope it’s nothing.

Ginny has a bit of baldness in the same spot - but she does spend an inordinate amount of time on the sofa! Plus, with having a leg missing, she has more chest-to-sofa contact than the others.

I hope it's nothing with Stanners.

I’m wondering if it’s some form of allergy or something.

His anal glands are really bad lately as well. He absolutely just stunk there, I could smell them sat next to him 😬 he’s had a good luck now 🤮 so I don’t know if they’re better because OH has taken him through the kitchen because I was going to throw up 🙈

So we’ve been to the vets and they were really not concerned.

She was pretty adamant it’s a pressure spot from where he lays down. She checked his entire coat over and said that’s the only thinning spot, his skin looks completely fine, it’s not irritating him, sore, red or anything like that.

She said she just wants to monitor it for now and if it starts looking sore or gets worse to go back.

So we’re not really any further forward 🤔
