Bald spot

So we’ve been to the vets and they were really not concerned.

She was pretty adamant it’s a pressure spot from where he lays down. She checked his entire coat over and said that’s the only thinning spot, his skin looks completely fine, it’s not irritating him, sore, red or anything like that.

She said she just wants to monitor it for now and if it starts looking sore or gets worse to go back.

So we’re not really any further forward 🤔
Well, I suppose the only progress is that it’s in his vet records as a concern so if it’s still an issue in a few months you’ve got some ammo to say it’s been going on for a while...

That sounds frustrating. We always want to be able to fix the problem, but need to know the problem first. On the bright side, it is hopeful it is just from lying on it. Although if you’re concerned, I’d be asking the vet to take a skin scraping and investigate under a microscope.

I don’t want to jinx it but the fur seems to be coming back on Stanley’s bald spot.

Since We’ve moved he’s been sleeping on the couch rather than his bed and looking at this thread it would’ve coincided with him getting his bed (Dec 2018). I’m wondering if it was maybe the material of the bed rubbing?

Maybe but Rory is did develop a bald area like this when he was ill recently. He was very itchy and we had to put him on apoquel. It stopped his itching and the patch grew back
