Banana Skin!

Joy found a banana skin in the heather on the moor thismorning and had expertly snaffled it before I had a chance to stop her. According to Google banana skins are not poisonous for dogs but are difficult to digest and can cause blockages. Has anyone else had experience with this? Do I just keep an eye on her and wait for it to er...'pass through '?

I used to give Maisy a whole banana and let her work her way in, sometimes she ate some skin but usually left it. She never had any effects but then she never ate a whole one so sorry can't help. Poor Joy, hope it doesn't cause any bother.

They usually come threw ok. Iver and Doug have both swallowed them whole and they've popped out. If not they sick them up. Just keep an eye on her perhaps give moist food?

Thanks everyone. I did ring the vet, just to be on the safe side and was advised to watch for lethargy, loss of appetite, signs of abdominal discomfort. No evidence of any of this so far, she's alternating between drooling at me while I eat my lunch and barking at cats in the garden! I'll just keep an eye on her and give her something moist for her tea as Swampy suggested. Still got plenty of sardines!

It’s a while since Tatze ate anything illegal (touch plenty of wood) but she always hung on to it for a few days then chucked it up in the night. Often waiting until she was at Zaba’s. The excitement of running round with him always got things moving.
