BARKING, Driving Me CRAZY

Cannot quite believe it. Charlie was sitting in the window, he could see our neighbour over the way driving down her very long drive, NO BARKING, I fed him treats as he watched.

Next event. He saw two ramblers walking past the front of our window with a dog, this would normally send him into orbit. He barked once, he was about to head down the stairs (we have an upside down house) he put his paws on the first step, decided not to and came to me for treats. I am thrilled xxx :D

A massive result so had to share. I have just been playing/training in the garden with Hattie & Charlie, 'find' it games etc. My neighbour was driving up their long drive and drove right along the track outside our house close to where we were. Charlie didn't bark at all and kept his focus on me for my next throw of treats and games. He couldn't have been less interested in the car at all. This is a great result as Charlie would bark at a fly going past :giggl:Really happy. xx

Kipper pulled on the lead in a couple of bits, but it reminded me how much better he is already just in a short space of time.
I had the same this morning! Obviously my day of brags, sorry ;)
Walking three Labradors on lead down the road, past distractions (no dogs, but plenty of people), all walking by my side, gazing up at me adoringly. I look back and think, wow. When W&S were teenagers, they were utterly horrible on lead at times!

Today I thought it was time to revisit this thread. I have been doing a lot of work with Charlie to stop barking as it does my head in  It's been tough as we only moved in October and then had to return down south for various reasons so in the past 15 months it's been backwards and forwards between north and south with various training in between. First day today back in Scotland and I had the perfect training opportunity. My neighbour over the field has her two grandchildren over and they have been walking down her very long drive that we can see from start to finish. Two small children and two adults walking, stopping, running back and forth. I sat on the floor in the french door with Charlie and Primula rewarding him for LAT. This was about a 20 minute exercise and by the time they returned home I had sat at the table, Charlie was looking at them and coming over to me for cheese. Only a couple of barks then silence. He is now happily sitting at the door. xx :sun:
