Beasties

I went out after dark last night to try to get some nice nighttime lake shots. I chose a different lake this evening, one I’ve not been to for years. In my mind, the parking was right slap bang next to the lake. Not so. It was about a twenty minute walk through very dark, very dense forest. The saving grace was a good wide footpath, but my head torch was all but useless.

I got to the lake and started sketching (taking test shots). Side note: this isn’t easy with a water-obsessed Labrador. About five minutes in, I heard a noise in the woods to the side of me. It kept getting louder but my torch wouldn’t reach any distance at all to show me what it was. I tried to ignore it, and kept snapping away. Willow didn’t seem bothered, so that’s ok, I thought. Probably just rabbits.
Time ticked by, and there was a niggle in the back of my mind. That ain’t no rabbit. Louder and bigger sounding, or was it just my mind playing tricks on me? Willow suddenly snaps to attention, staring across the end of the lake where I was sat. Then barking and snarling and ... bugger this, I’m outta here!!! 😂😂😂

First video as I was walking down to the lake. Second when I got back to the car 😂

Eeeek! Just seen this video. A bear has been spotted wandering around Andorra. We do get them, but it's very, very rare.OK, I don't feel so foolish now!

The bears in California will generally stay away if they hear big dogs in an area, hopefully it's the same way in Andorra!

(Little dogs don't have the same effect for obvious reasons 😳)

Yikes! That looks like a grizzly...did they say what kind of bear? The smaller black bears here are less aggressive than the grizzlies but I would not want to meet any of them in the woods, thank you!! :shake:
