Beautiful Bella

She is very photogenic and a little darling. Thank heaven you came along and fostered her, it makes me shudder as to what could have happened to her with the poor fest, as possibly no-one would have taken her on .

It’s not just that, the shelter weren’t prepared to let her go to a home that potentially wouldn’t be prepared for a lifetime commitment to an incontinent dog, until they knew what the situation actually was. In the shelter, she didn’t have a chance of having firm stools, so the only way to get her properly assessed was first getting her into a home environment with someone who didn’t mind cleaning her (and themselves 😂) regularly.

Without that, she would have stayed in the shelter indefinitely, since it’s not legal to euthanise healthy dogs here.

Wow, that's huge progress! Is that new to all of Spain, or only Catalan?
It’s Catalonia. Been like this for years. I’m actually not a fan. It means the Nishas and Talias of the world live long and horrible lives in shelters without necessary care because they’re too scared, until they die in their kennels.
It sounds great on the surface, but the reality is far bleaker.

She is totally gorgeous, in every way!

This morning, we've had the twins muzzled in the house and Bella free to roam. This is a bit more challenging for the Labs than being out on a walk where there's plenty of space to move naturally, but they both did absolutely brilliantly. I was doing a spot of washing up and heard Bella squeaking outside, popped my head out the door, and there she was, trying to get Shadow to play with her! It would have worked, too, if Willow "Chief of Fun Police" hadn't stepped in :wasntme:
No nastiness, just her getting between them, as if to say, "hands off, squirt, he's MY brother!".

Who could say no to this little face?? :inlove:

We went to the vet with our little Nugget in the morning. Wednesday evening, I noticed a large lump had appeared out of nowhere on her tummy. She gets a lot of tummy rubs, so this was very noticeably new. It was about 2cm diameter (which is big on such a tiny dog), moved freely under the skin, and didn't appear to be causing her any discomfort.
Of course, as she’s a foster, she’s under the care of the shelter’s vet so I couldn’t just take her to mine.

We got to the vet, which is a good 45 minute journey by the time we find somewhere to park and then walk to the surgery. They stuck a needle in it, pus came out, so they decided to do a quick surgery to remove it. We went off to sit in a cafe for an hour. LittleBella wasn't yet awake by the time we got back, so we had to wait a while longer. The vet isn't sure what it was: it's possible it was a reaction to the stitches where she was spayed, or maybe a spike had got in.Neither answer totally fitted the bill, but to be careful, the vet only used external stitches when sewing her back up.

Poor little lady is totally spaced out and in a Rab C. Nesbit vest. It's so sad to see her not her usual bouncy self.
