It needs a new zip and a bit of TLC so I’ve taken it to be mended.
Bet that will cost you a fair bit.
I know when G wanted a new zip in his favourite trousers I was quoted £20 - they weren't even worth that!
Its such a shame the cost of repairs on anything if you can't do it yourself, adds to our "disposable lives".
Hope you manage to get it done @Boogie

I've bought a lightweight jacket for only £24 in a flexothane-type material from Fortress that claims 'to offer exceptional weather protection in the most testing of conditions.' Of course this has ensured we now have beautiful sunny weather and no rain forecast in the foreseeable future ?. So I'll report back when it's been tested.

I have a good quality waterproof jacket with a removable warmer jacket inside. It means that I can adjust the warmth depending on the weather. I also have an awful pair of waterproof pants that sound like I'm scrunching plastic bags as I walk. I must upgrade the pants to a pair with a silencer.

To be honest though, I don't do much wet weather walking. Ella's like Stanley and isn't keen on the rain. She'd much prefer to snuggle on the couch and go out later once the rain has stopped, or at least reduced to a light drizzle.

Plum is the same as Stanley & Ella in not liking the rain. She won't go out in the garden for a wee if it's raining. On Saturday we were walking on the Downs and the heavens opened as we were walking back. I was soaked on one side only (no waterproof with me) and Plum didn't know what to do with herself, she kept sitting down, ears back, looking at me with pleading eyes!

I don't have anything very suitable for heavy rain, I can't bring myself to part with the extortionate sums many decent waterproofs cost plus, being on the, ahem, curvy side, it's very hard to find women's stuff that fits around my hips.

I just buy men's and I always buy in the sales. Like most things in the clothing industry has this weird idea that people over size 16 don't leave the house or like anything but pink. I do between 6 and 8 likes a day have a huge amount of walking stamina and legs like a Suffolk punch. I buy stuff from farmers outfitters too. They do cheap durable water proofs, but they can be a but sweaty the waterproofs not the farmers☺

A bit weird to reply to myself I know! However I wore the above coat in really heavy continuous rain today and it was brilliant - didn't let in the wet at all - a real bargain.

I do really want some waterproof over-trousers though. The trouble is I'm short and fat and apparently short, fat people never go out in the rain. ;)

Regatta used to do short waterproof trousers.

I just bought this Regatta jacket and it's brilliant, a true size 8 fits perfectly, has a proper size hood and I love the colour! It poured down today I was totally dry, it was really windy too but nothing got through this jacket, I was snug as bug. I really like the longer length too as it covers my little bum! What a bargain at £29.95 not £39.95 as priced now but still a bargain at a normal £100! :)(y) x

I am also a Regatta convert! Bought this coat of eBay and have been wearing it out beating for the last few weeks. It is lovely and warm with a big hood and a nice long length, and it is under £30!! I wore it during storm Callum a while ago when the rain was coming horizontally at me and I stayed totally dry. Big thumbs up from me. The only thing I would say though is go a size up from normal size.
